She was close to both of her sons.  She would have preferred that Flemming marry a princess, but she was fond of Countess Ruth.  She thought more of Ruth than she did of Anne Bowes-Lyon.

Princess Margareta and her sisters are mainly known  in Sweden for a cooking-book called the " The Coocking-book of the Princesses"( Prinsessornas kokbok). A thick volume with their portraits on the cover. It was used in every bourgeouis home in Sweden for decades . I still use it from time to time for traditional dishes. Elderly people who might not be interested in royalty  do at least know about the cooking-book!!

Princess Axel of Denmark with her parents, Carl and Ingeborg of Sweden, and two sisters Martha, Crown Princess of Norway, and Astrid, Queen of Belgians

Interesting that her sisters are wearing floor length attire while she has a short dress on.

Here's Margaretha (at right) with Princess Caroline Mathilde of Denmark

Also she can be seen in many group photos of various Danish-Sweden-Norvegian gatherings.

It is surprising how Caroline Mathilde still seems so young !

She does not seem to age despite the passage of time.

There are only thirteen years of difference between her and Princess Axel, but in this picture probably taken in the 50s (Caroline Mathilde has about 40 years and Margareta 50), Margareta appears much older that the point she could be her mother or even her grandmother. It's incredible!

It is not from the funeral itself, but Prince Axel & Princess Margaretha just arrived by plane, which you can see in the background, in Brussels for the funeral of her sister Queen Astrid. Just a caption of a moment, both were very upset, like the rest of the family.
