Photographs of Franz Joseph are quite rare. I've never seen this one, but the young man looks like him.

BTW: He is Duke IN Bavaria.  ;)

Are there any pictures of his elder brother Ludwig-Wilhelm and his wife Eleonor of Sayn-Wittgenstein ?

Happy New Year

Could you tell anything about the sons of Carl Theodor? I don´t know much about them, because they still are the most unknown children of the Duke.
I know that Franz Joseph died young and was unmarried.

;It would be very nice, thanks! :-*

I don't know much about either  :-\.
I would like to know if they had any kind of occupation or studies, since their father f.i. , was a reputed ophtalmologist.

Ludwig-Wilhelm died in 1968, three years after his wife Eleonore.
As he had no children he had adopted his cousin Max Emmanuel Prince OF Bavaria, Duke Franz's brother.
But I am not sure how this adoption worked out because.
I have this Book "Les Maisons Souveraines et Royales d'Europe" by Christian Cannuyer.
Oddly enough, it states that Max-Emmanuel is the duke IN Bavaria from 1965.
But it also says that his cousin Leopold, "Mapperl"'s son, was Duke IN Bavaria from 1965 until his death in 1973

Can someone confirm who succeeded L-W   ????  His adopted son or his cousin Leopold ?

As to Franz-Joseph (1888-1912) there is this story that he had a son with Caroline "Lily" Stockhammer.
The child, Ottomar Gustav Stockhammer (1905-59) was adopted by Pr.Joachim of Prussia, and got married to Kitty, freiin Taube (1911- ? )
