I wish we could see the video that was shown in the marble hall to the press when the AP announced it was restoring more rooms.  I keep wondering if that video contained more of the footage from 1920 or whenever, when it was opened to tourist. I love the maple room balcony shot, big thanks to poster!

Hi all.  I've spent countless hours exploring this site over the years as a guest, and have finally decided to "take the plunge" and become a member.  I've immensely enjoyed all of your posts.  They are a treasure trove of startling amounts of knowledge about an endlessly fascinating topic.

These are my first pictures.  I found them on a Web site, whose address I'll post if anyone is interested.  They are from a series of digitalized and colorized photos taken in and around the Alexander Palace in the late 1920s or early 1930s.  The first three should be familiar to all.  The fourth is most fascinating.  It is entitled, simply, "Dining Room in the Palace."  I thought immediately of the Grand Duchesses' upstairs dining room, but cannot reconcile the photo with the palace floorplans I've seen elsewhere on this site.

Eeeps.  The above is not what I intended.  This warrants another look at the posting discussions to see what I did wrong.

Hi Sarushka!  I did some quick research and the entire concept suddenly clicked.  I came back to modify my post, but think you and I were both modifying simultaneously.  Now the 4 images show as a red "x" in a white box.

Actually, I found them at Poemas del Rio Wang Tsarskoe Selo.  The pictures can be accessed at

riowang.blogspot.com/2011/05/tsarskoe-selo.html

A further search did turn up the same pictures at Royal Russia, which site identified the fourth picture as a dining room at the Lower Dacha at Peterhof.
