There aren't that many quotes about Anastasia in particular when she was a toddler. Look in all the online books on the Alexander Palace main page and you might be able to find something besides any by Eager. Of course we all know as a toddler she was quite naughty. She would occasionally bite or scratch when playing with others and resisted any challenge. It's often said that her cousins didn't like her and thought her mean to the point of being evil but this has only been said in Kurth's book and he told me a few years ago that it wasn't necessarily true that they hated her.

There are also a few quotes from Pierre Gilliard about 3 year old Anastasia when he started teaching French to Olga and Tatiana.I think they're from his book "Thirteen Years at the Russian Court", which you can read online here at the Alexander Palace website.

One more:

Nena -- the one you quoted was taken in Peterhof, maybe around 1906 (just guessing on the date). The other was labeled as taken on Polar Star in 1905.

I don't know who took the photos, but I'd guess N&A, or the court photographer.

Hi!

Anybody wants photos? As for the quotes, I don't know, but I think I have a few pictures you'll like.

Tatiana, Anastasia, Olga and Maria, 1901

Anastasia, Olga,Tatiana, Maria, 1901 again

Olga and Tatiana, Nastya on top of the pony, and Maria, 1906

Same photoshoot: Alexandra, Nastya, Alexei, Olga, Tatiana and Maria

Nastya and Alexei, 1906

Anastasia, Maria, Alexei and Tatiana, 1906

Olya, Anastasia, Tatiana, Maria, 1906

Olga, Anastasia, Tatiana, 1906

Maria, Alexandra and Anastasia (cute, no?) I'd say between 1904 and 1906

And finally, in 1906 again: Anastasia, Alix, Alexei, Tatiana behind him and Olga

Those top pictures are from 1902/1903.  If it was 1901 Anastasia would of been 6 months.
