The thoughts of a revolution were growing before Nicky was tsar. There's no way to know exactly what would have happened. Maybe the same, only we would be remembering a different family on this site.

Well, I think Aleksandra would have been calmer. Hemophilia can be treated a lot better now than it was then.

You've got a point there.
Alix would not have been so down, and there would have been no need for a Rasputin kind of guy...
Their story would have been so different Sad

I would  like Grand Duchess Olga to be my sister, because I think we have a lot in common. I would want her to be my older sister which is interesting, because in my family I am the oldest. I have a younger brother and sister. I get along with my brother but not with my sister.

I see her listening to Gwen Stefani.  Her stuff seems to have a rebelious kind of touch to it.

I can SO see Maria loving the Phantom of the Opera. Smiley She was that romantic type. Or maybe this is just wishful thinking, since I'm a fan of POTO.  Wink

I think Olga would be studying in some of the appreciated universities and would have found her partner there. She would choose some kind of alternative lifestyle (which would not be easily accepted by her mother or the public - she is royal and should live that way) living like "normal" people and enjoying her daily work which would be something both intelligently motivating and humanitarian. She would become a person that is quoted in respected publications.

Tatjana would be the target of the press because of her beauty and the amount of well-known suitors she has because of that. She would live a jetset -life, but use her power in charity work. Her husband would be the most adored ex-single guy in the celebrity world, who would adore her. Kind of a JFK jr.

I think the world would be following Marias ever growing family which she would have been set up in young age with the love-of-her-life minor royal husband. No one would have anything bad to say about Maria and her husband who both would be happy and kind and pictoresque. They would be considered the ideal family. Every possible mistake she would make is forgotten at the moment she smiles.

Anastasia on the other hand would be both loved and hated by the public because of her temperament and nasty tongue. She would live inside the art world and do what ever she wants to without asking permission from anyone. She would have troubles in her private life because she wouldnt like to settle down. But finally she would find her equal. Before that we would be shaking our heads while reading wild stories about her and her boyfriends (or girlfriends). But above all she would be a highly regarded actress, whose work we would see as well in Broadway as in the independent movies she stars in.

I think that Aleksei would live quite much similar public life than Tatjana. He would be ill every now and then, but his illness would not thoroughly prevent him living like other young men in his social class. He is in the top ten most adored royal men: handsome and intelligent and a bit wild. He would have difficulties while making decisions about the direction of his life and so he would try to study different things and then droppes them. Few times he is going to be mixed up in a smallscaled scandal while staying in with her sister Anastasia and her circle.

What if history had allowed all members of the IF to survive and they had been granted asylum in the United States. How do you think they would adjust? What do you think would have been their biggest obsticle, and then, most comforting for each of them.

Well, I think they would probably had been well received by the members of the russian community in the US...I'm not sure how were the american feelings towards Russia by that time, but I'm sure that on the years of the "Cold War" the IF family would had been turned into an "icon" of the war against communism.

I don't think they would have survived.

I mean even after Trotsky was exiled for so many years, Stalin sent a guy to kill him with an ice pick. And he was a comrade(to a point).

Sosso was a paranoid with  eyes!

Hi Angwen,

You might say by then, the communists and Stalin were the ones who sort of started the specialized service of  'home delivery' ! I don't think he was anyone's comrade. But with that ice pick he wanted to make more than a point. I shudder just thinking of his evil eyes.

You state, Sosso, are you referring to comrade stalin?
If so, I've never heard him referred as such.

Thanks for the input. Smiley

Dear Alexanastasia,

Then and still now, the IF in the United States, as throughout the world, in the russian communities, are very much supportive of their memories. For us,they are much beloved Saints.

I never really gave thought about the IF being turned into living icons, against communism. I don't know, what do others here in the United States of the Russian Community think ?

Thanks for your thoughts. and input

Tatiana

 Joseph-English Translation of Iossef
I don't know how they get Sosso(Joey) from that, but is what he was called when he went to school.

It sounds really cool.

He sentenced a million people to death for political reasons. How do you think he viewed his real enemies?
