What a lovely story!  :)

Mary R.
"I shall be very disappointed," she remarked for the record, "if George doesn't come up again." Queen Mary upon hearing her husband was to ride in a submarine.

When asked the question of when her eldest son would return to the country Queen Mary said, "Not until he comes to my funeral."

I always enjoyed this photo of the 2 Georges:

and a close-up of young George

He looks as fed up getting his photo taken as his father did in some photos when he was a child!

I had posted this one on the first page of the thread. The Duke died so soon after Michael's birth, there aren't many photos of him with his son. This one was from Queen Mary's album and she had added the 'my precious' to her caption of the names after George's death just a few weeks after the photo was taken.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f78/opzich/royalty/OlgaofYugoslaviawithhersistersElisa.jpg

The three beautiful daughters of Prince and  Princess Nicholas of Greece: Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark (later the Duchess of Kent, wearing the lovely Bow-brooch), Princess Olga of Greece and Denmark (later Princess Olga of Yugoslavia), Princess Elizabeth of Greece and Denmark (later Countess of Toerring-Jettenbach). I think itís one of the most elegant and stunning portraits of the royal sisters.

Wishing you all the best from the Netherlands,

RN

Marina, Duchess of Kent

A charming photo of the new Duchess of Kent by wearing one of her famous hats typical of her style changed radically from that a bit outdated other Princesses of the british Royal Family.

The Duke of Kent was fascinated by the likeness of his wife Marina with his grandmother Queen Alexandra of England.

Indeed, Marina had inherited from her paternal great-aunt, her glamour and to please her husband, she also cultivated by adopting this likeness, for example, at the end of the 1930s, a hairstyle similar to that of Alexandra.

Prince George, Duke of Kent : a terribly attractive man who attracted as many women as men.
