I've noticed lately that there are a lot of threads where something is posted and while it's nice, it's not really a conversation and only gets one or two replies and then just dies and floats to the bottom until someone bumps it back up with a "oh, that's nice" or whatever. I hope the mods approve of this thread, because I thought that this could be the little thread of Romanov non sequitors. If you have an interesting fun fact, random Romanov thought, have found something interesting, or whatever, just post it here instead of making a new topic for it and clogging the board! Wink

That's a very good idea, IMO. And here's something I found interesting...isn't this Alix's friend, Lily Dehn(sp?)? I think Tatiana looks a lot like her. It would have been cool to have seen how much Tatiana looked like her as she grew old.

I'm not sure who that is, but it does look strikingly like Tatiana. Where did you find that photo?

Here are some I'm sure are Lili, for comparison:

Opps, I guess that isn't Lilly, then. I found it at Beineke. It was the largest album, the one with 90 pages. I think it was near the end.

Whoever it is, she did look a lot like Tatiana! Are those albums labeled with dates or anything? If there was a general date we could read and see where letters and stuff mention visitors.

Great topic Ritka! Probably the best ever.  Grin

I think of the Romanovs when I'm outside in the summer too Emily! Or whenever I'm outside in general! Outside is just a great place to think about them, I find!  Smiley

I agree with Holly. This was a smart thing to do, Ritka. I agree with you and that people post threads that only end up being short and take up a lot of room in this Forum.

Great pictures, clockworkgirl! I believe that is Lili's child that the Empress is holding in her arms. Alexandra was a godmother to Lili's son and called him Titi, and "Titi" called Alexandra Aunt Baby.

And I think that that first picture would have been what Tatiana would have looked like at an older age.

I can't believe I haven't noticed THIS before.  In the movie, Elwood Blues gets into some trouble with the Russian Mafia....the film depicts them as Tsarist Loyalists, their headquarters is an abandoned embassy with crossed out Soviet flags and within are statues of the Tsars and at what appears to be an altar is a formal portrait of Nicky.   Shocked

Ye gotta see it to understand, I am horrible at explaining things Roll Eyes

I have seen this flick too many times and cannot believe I missed it every time!  Just thought it was a fun topic to point out.  I know its a movie but is it for real?  The fact that a branch/cell of the Russian Mafia is loyal to the dynasty?   :-?

I just thought I would move this, before deleting the thread.  Smiley

Lol, I was trying to find this thread but didn't see it in the first 4 pages untill I looked at the very top... Roll Eyes

Anyways, me and my mom get this weekly paper type thing and it has facts and a crossword puzzle that we do.  Well in the crossword, #1 down was "Former Russian Rulers" ^_^

And in then there's a 'Did You Know...' section and it says "What a present: Queen Victoria got a very unusual wedding gift when she married her cousin, Prince Albert, in 1840.  It was a half-ton cheese that had a diameter of over nine feet."

I'm a someone I assure you. Yeah, I did delete the thread so there won't be clutter, but moved the message here so it would not be deleted itself. I apologize that I forgot to put the title of the movie.
