*Gasp*  My moment of "SAY WHAT?!?"  I think I'll go sit in my room and die, now.  I'm depressed.   

I was like that too when I found out. I thought ' how could they do something so bad?' but then someone pointed out the me that they were only human and that at that period in history, people did not know the effects of smoking and it was seen as new, exotic and fashionable. In a way you could say OTMA were just following a trend amoung young women at that time.

As welll as for Maria, I am not sure, either. 

The only people that have offended me are the grand duchesses.  But I suppose I would have done the same thing if I lived in that time.  Still, they were so young!
