Holly, very intersting. Thanks for the story.

It's also great that you visited (even lived) not only in polished and glamourous Moscow with Petersburg, but in real Russia. I've been in Karelia several times and my feelings are close to yours.

Glad to hear you all enjoyed it! I'm having fun remembering everything.
I am thankful to have ilved in the real Russia and not just stayed in the tourist towns -- if I had, I would have had no idea what Russia was really like.

Holly, I believe most AP forum members  would understand your emotions while at the Romanov tomb....and share them!  I find the video of their 1998  interment incredibly moving as well...It's no wonder you were overwhelmed when actually there! Wow. Thank you for posting the story of your trip!

I toured the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA on Saturday and noticed that near the servants' call room there's a photo of the Romanovs on the wall. Please note that none of the furniture in the house now is original.
