Well, Ella had the capabilities to be close to many people. I am sure she was closer to Ducky than Alix was, yes, given how especially after the divorce of Ducky from Ernest, she and Ducky were not friends. Alexandra would never have heard Ducky out, though and tried to be understanding, even if she could not, because she blamed Ducky so much.

Indeed...It would be much easier to blame somebody else and look at the truth. It was very different with Ella who was more understanding and VMH (being more reasonable).  Wink

Yes, it is easier to blame someone than look at the truth. I think Alexandra sincerely believed that she knew the truth, though, and she wasn't just blaming Ducky because it was easier than to look at more complicated questions of blame or not. She could have taken a more complicated look at the truth, and the questions of blame involved, but didn't feel the need. Ducky was not to blame as much as she made out, but perhaps she sincerely believed it to be so.

Indeed. The clear indication is that both VMH and Ella continue to have relations with Ducky, while with Alicky it was a breach that was never healed (It was no help that Alicky also disapproved of Ducky's new mother-in-law, Michen).  Sad

Yes, it was impossible for Miechen and Alexandra to get along, for sure. Wink You are right, that didn't help matters, although one imagines that Ducky and Alexandra were fairly estranged by then anyway. I don't think her just having Miechen for a mother in law, would have been enough for them not to get along, but who knows?

We're getting a bit off-topoic here. Since this thread seems to have run its course, at least for now, perhaps the new points brought up should go on one of the other Ella threads. I'm hearing from people that this topic (and some others) just seem to be going round-and-round, not really adding anything new.

Ella however was more close to Ducky than Alicky ever was. She get to know the story from both sides. So that is perhaps why both she & VMH were not vindictive towards her yet remained supportive of Ernie.  Roll Eyes

Also, Ella ALWAYS felt very protective towards Ernie so she probably never would have waivered in her support of him.  But  I also feel that Ella was not a vindictive person.  From a young age she exhibited qualities of forgiveness and acceptance that most adults marvelled at.

This is NOT a thread about Ella's personality, nor her opinion of Rasputin, etc etc. Posters WILL return to topic or I will direct the thread be locked.
 PERIOD
Am tired of getting PMs of complaint about this thread, particularly about Eric Lowe's continued digressions and disrespect of other posters.

Is this clear?

I started another thread on Ella and Rasputin a while ago. I would love posts to it. Smiley As for Ella and Ernie's homosexuality, it seems we have exhausted the topic. We pretty much know he was gay, and that Ella was forgiving in general, despite being quite religious. She seems to have understood this, and always been close to her brother. I think that sums it up. I mean no offense.
