Hello  :)

Unfortunately I don't have a portrait of her, but I can add some information...

Auguste was never Queen of Bavaria nor Princess (strictu sensu) of Hesse...

She was born a Landgravine of Hesse (the correct title)...

When she married the future King Maximilian in 1785, her husband was only ruling Count of Birkenfeld, then on Apr 1795 he succeeded his brother as Duke of Zweibrücken...

Augusta died in the following month of March 1796...beeing survived by 2 sons and 2 of the 3 daughters she brought to this world...

In 1797 Maximilian married again to Caroline, Margravine of Baden...

In 1799 he became Prince Elector of Bavaria and of the Palatinate of the Rhine...

Then only January 1806 did he became the 1st King of Bavaria, almost 11 years after Augusta had died...

Auguste Wilhelmine Marie was the ninth and youngest child of Georg Wilhelm of Hesse (1722-1782) and his wife Luise Gräfin zu Leiningen-Heidesheim (1729-1818). She was born on April 14th 1765 in Darmstadt.

Auguste was married to Maximilian, Duke of Zweibrücken on September 30th 1785 in Darmstadt. They had two sons and three daughters: Ludwig (1786-1868), Auguste Amalie (1788-1851), Amalie Maria Auguste (1790-1794), Charlotte Auguste (1792-1873) and Carl Theodor (1795-1875).

The Duchess of Zweibrücken died on March 30th 1796 in Rohrbach/Heidelberg. She was laid to rest in the Schlosskirche / Darmstadt.

Auguste with her children Ludwig and Auguste Amalie. Ludwig was very close to his mother. Maybe this is one reason why he didn't get along very well with his step-mother Caroline von Baden.
