It's possible the film was referring to Maria Dorothea of Württemberg.  Caroline was the last of her given names, although I don't know if she went by it.  Maria Dorothea married Johann's brother Joseph instead as his third wife.

Thank you.  Smiley Yes, that's possible. I wasn't sure because historical movies sometimes tend to make something up that never happened.

Was there a reason why Johann refused to marry her?  Assuming "Caroline" of of Württemberg is Maria Dorothea, she married Johann's brother Joseph in 1819.  Johann wasn't with Anna Plochl at the time.  They didn't marry until 1829 and their only child wasn't born until 1839.  Did Johann have another mistress at that time, or did have another reason for refusing Maria Dorothea?

Well, in the movie, it was said that he was in love with Anna and 'Caroline' was in love with someone else, too.

It's an Austrian movie called 'Geliebter Johann Geliebte Anna' from 2009. In German TV, there was recently a slightly cut version of the movie called 'Anna und der Prinz'.
