Zarzuela has announced today that the marriage between Elena and Jaime is broken. They will live apart "for a while", this is the first step to their divorce, I suppose.

Very sad news indeed, allthough it was speculated on for months.Suppose Jaime never really regained his composure after the severe attack he suffered a few years ago, must be very painfull to both.

Elena is a very nice and lovely woman. I donīt know how Jaime is, really...I have heard a good deal of gossip for the last three years about him. But I hope they will found some measure of happiness from right now.

Yes there is a lot of gossip about Jaime, spainish newspaper are writing that he is gay and has a lover. I don't know if this is right and if this is the reason they broke up.

nearly as bad as the homophobic British press who claim everyone is gay. If it was true we would all know about it by now eh?

once i was tavelling by train where i met a young woman from spain.she wasn`t spanish but she ahd been living there for a long time and had a spanish husband and 3 kids. we were discussing different issues including that of the royal family ( i have to stress that i don`t like moden royals. the crown princess in spain is not a royal lady, she is a commoner with all due respect. a royal is someone special ,someone royal by birth,by blood.the last REAL royal couple of spain is king juan carlos and queen sophia). she told me the following things:

1. the spanish deeply respect their royal family, especially the king and the queen for their dignity and simplicity.

2. she said that it had been clear for a long time that infanta elena and her husband experienced hard time in their marriage. they appeared together only in public , when their arrival together and joint pesence were absolutely necessary due to some state holidays, state visits etc. unlike other childen of juan carlos and sophia, they weren`t seen together on private occasions. also, it was clear, when people looked at them, that the feeling that once existed between them, disappeared. the couple however carried out their official duties and pretended that everything was fine because the royal family is catholic. catholic church doesn`t accept divorces. besides, sepaation and subsequent divorce would ruin the reputation of the royal family so infanta elena had to go on like usual. but eveyone in spain knew that the duke and duchess of lugo were difiting apart.

3.she also said a few words abbout the crown prince and princess. princess leticia has a very difficult character, she is not a person that easily finds a common ground with other people. she is also the leader in her family, and the prince often obeys her and accepts her leading role.

Well, Violetta...being myself spanish and living in Spain since I was born a fewww years ago...I can not agree! We are more than forty million people here, and, for sure, there are a good number of people who didnīt like Letizia as princess and future queen. But there are also a good number of people supporting Letizia. Sheīs a clever woman, strong enough to make her own choices and to endure the criticism.
