I don't believe I have ever heard of a cause of death for Felix. I assumed it was of old age. In Christopher Dobson's book he wrote Felix had been in pain for some time when he fell into a coma and passed away. Greg King's book however only notes that Felix died peacefully in his sleep.

It's very possible his vision he may have been failing towards the ends. The glasses he wore in the Interview "I killed Rasputin" seemed to be wearing prescription glasses however I could be wrong.

i'm not positive about cause of death, but i have read in several books that Felix lost his sight at the end of his life. I believe that is why he always wore those sunglasses in the years before his death.

I've managed to find a French interview which was conducted with Prince Felix and his wife, Irina in 1967 shortly before Felix's death. In it they both speak about their involvement in Rasputin's murder. It's riveting to say the least!

P.S Interview is entirely in French (the one which had subtitles has been taken down).

тяв!

I just came across this translation and thought I'd post.  Thank you Grand Duchess Anna!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interviewer: Prince Felix Yussupov, you killed Rasputin.

Felix: Yes.

Interviewer: How old are you, prince?

Felix: Nearly 80.

Interviewer: How old were you when you killed Rasputin?

Felix: 29.

Interviewer: Prince, did you belong to the Russian imperial family?

Felix: No, but my wife is Emperor Nicholas II’s niece.

Interviewer: Princess, were you aware of your husband’s plans?

Irina: Yes, I was aware.

Interviewer: Did you approve?

Irina: Yes.

Interviewer: Princess, it’s been said—it’s been repeated—that you were a sort of bait that your husband used to lure Rasputin to your house on the night of the murder, is that right?

Irina: That’s not true at all.

Interviewer: Why?

Irina: I wasn’t even there. I wasn’t even in St Petersburg, I was in the Crimea. (I can’t make out exactly what the second sentence is but that’s the gist of it.)

Interviewer: Prince, in the twilight of your life, when you think back to Rasputin, how do you feel about him?

Felix: Disgusted.

Interviewer: Did you have a personal interest in the murder of Rasputin?

Felix: None.

Interviewer: Prince, if you were faced with the same decision, would you do it again?

Felix: Yes.

Interviewer: All your life, you’ve refused to authorize films about your story. The films about Rasputin have been without your acknowledgment. And now for the first time, you have authorized our film, and for the first time you have appeared before cameras. Prince Yussupov, why?

Felix: Because the other films did not tell the true story.

Interviewer: The man who has just spoken to you, the man who killed Rasputin— that man will examine his memories.

Ortipo thanks so much for this! I was very curious as to what was being said. When I originally watched the YouTube clip it sounded like the interviewer wouldn't shut up. Reading it now, since I understand very little French, it sounds more like a court room interrogation than an interview.

Pretty lame actually but I'm glad I can now understand what's being said.

I wish there were more than a couple of minutes available.  Not only would I very much like to hear a first hand account of all the details of what occurred on that particular night, I'd also like to hear about the various meetings/dealings that Felix had with Rasputin that led to that night and the interviewer possibly asking Felix to confirm/deny the more implausible rumors that circulated regarding various members of the IF being present.  Hopefully the rest of the footage will become available sometime soon.

Yes it would be nice to see but I'd also take it with a grain of salt. Yusspov's memory was undoubtedly very selective by this point in his life.
