Thank you for the link Lucien and the lovely pictures, Viscount. I have to agree - HRH looks fabulous for her age. In older photos she bears a striking resemblance to Princess Marina, her mother, doesn't she?

Her mother Princess Marina had it too!  I beleive it came from the Greek-Danish side of her family.

She shares a family resemblance with the current Queen of Spain and Queen of Greece or maybe they just use the same stylist!   ;D ;D ;D

Celebrating my 300th post !!!

Princess Alexandra was born on 25th December 1936 at 3 Belgrave Square, London.   Stange to believe that at the time of her birth she was sixth in the line of succession to the British Throne - she is now 32nd.

The Princess was baptised in the Private Chapel of Buckingham Palace on 9th February 1937 and her godparents were:

HM King George VI
HM Queen Elizabeth (later HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother)
HRH Prince Nicholas of Greece & Denmark (Alexandra's grandfather)
HRH Princess Olga of Greece & Denmark The Princess Paul of Yugoslavia (sister of Alexandra's mother HRH Princess Marina)
Karl Theodor, Count zu Törring-Jettenbach (brother-in-law to Alexandra's mother HRH Princess Marina)
HM Queen Maud of Norway
The Earl of Athlone
HRH The Princess Beatrice, The Princess Henry of Battenberg

An impressive list of god-parents.

Princess Alexandra is what the Royal Family should be all about.... she carries out many engagements for charity etc. and hardly gets any real public praise or recognition although we should remember that she is now the 3rd Lady in the Land, taking precedence after HM, HRH The Princess Royal, and takes precedence over Camilla... but when required she puts on the tiara and glitz and looks stunning.  She is graceful and a real treasure - I wish her a very Happy 70th Birthday.

Happy Birthday Ma'am.. and to all my fellow AP threaders... HAPPY CHRISTMAS

The Viscount

Very surprised that there's not a thread on Princess Alexandra of Kent yet! She's always been a favorite royal of mine - very classy, elegant, eloquent, and classically beautiful, She takes after her mother Princess Marina very much I find - with alot of Russian influence from her grandmother too (GD Elena Elena Vladimirovna)

On her wedding day -

With her mom and husband Angus Ogilvy on their way to Buckingham -

With her mother and brother, Edward of Kent -

She's very elegant. Are those jewels belonging to her mother?

With her mother:they look very alike!

Exquisite photo! I remember Marina, her mama, also wearing the star pins on her hair in one photo!

To whom is she closest? To Queen Elizabeth II or Princess Margaret?

Oh I'm so sorry for not viewing my posts right after I post them...I'm very sorry.
