Does anyone know anything about the Cannes residences of Dowager Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna and Grand Duke Michael Mikhailovich? Were they the only ones who had villas in Cannes?

Thanks!

The Villa Kazbeck, a winter retreat with 25 bedrooms (plus eight for staff), two grand salons, ballroom, billiard room and two smoking rooms built by the uncle of Tsar Nicholas and frequented at one time by the Duke of Edinburgh.

Villa Wenden, the villa in Cannes   of Grand Duchess Anastasia calls now Villa "Le Rouve". I was there last year and  the villa appears to have been divided into several apartments.

Has abyone heard about Villa Syracusa in Torquay? It's Overmead Hotel now but in 19th century was Romanovs' villa. Grand Duchess Marie stayed there in 1864. Her parties were Countess Alexandra Tolstaya and Count Grigoriy Stroganoff.
I couldn't find any photo of her there.
Short history is onwww.overmadtorquay.com.
Which Marie was it? Has anyone seen photos of her there?

Torquay is a lovely town, I have been there several times and even had meals at the Overmead. But I never knew of it's Romanov connection.  I shall look more closely the next visit.

I think Royalty Digest had an article on this--or something very similar. Does that ring a bell with anyone? It could've been one of the articles Marion Wynn wrote--she wrote a number of articles about the Romanovs and England.

I believe the "Grand Duchess Marie" referenced was GDss Marie, daughter of Tsar Nicholas I. She married Count Gregory Strogonov in 1856. She was previously married to the Duke of Leuchtenberg until his death in 1852.

Isn't this too tiring to ask the others to make your research?

You know the names, the year, it is necessary to find the princess who can correspond to these reference marks. It is simple.

Dear Reco, I'm doing this research for more than 2 years for you to know. And I did not mean to aks you or anybody to do my job. I've just ask a question. It's a forum, isnt it?
As for the GD there is a confusion because there is no photo of any of them there. And 2 match the dates and lifestyle.
So no need to be rude.
And thanks to all who did helped.

Dear Dear Mary Ann,

I do not know the existance of this villa. I thank you for information. But two years without being able to identify these people appears incredible to me whereas that hardly took ten minutes to me to do it.

Without wanting to be rude, I advise you to find you a good method of research. You will save yourself many years in useless research.
