You need to lighten up, take a deep breath and stop taking things so personally. No one is attacking you, but the problem is NO ONE CAN UNDERSTAND YOU. MYSELF INCLUDED.  If nobody can understand what you 're trying to say, then your English IS a problem.

And, for the record. there is NO evidence that Alexei smoked.

The way I read it in their posts I can tell that they are being rude to me. I see that as criticizing. This is what I believe. If everyone can't understand me then my english must be that horrible for you all. I myself can understand what I am saying and typing so it is not a problem for me. But I seriously don't see why people have to include long paragraphs explaining how bad my english is that realy annoying and it realy angers me. People have to treat me like I am so pitiful. I heard that so many times enough is enough!

Elizabeth~Princess:  As a learning process, please cite your source for the following verbatim segment of your recent post, Reply #38:  (Referencing the Empress Alexandra and her smoking):  "She eventually quit later in 1917  I believe becuase she gave up her habit to a nun." I am unaware of this. Please clarify.  Many thanks.

I'm a touch confused about this as well.  Wouldn't she have needed a habit to become a nun?

I never said anything about Alexandra becoming a nun and she didn’t. I said that she stopped smoking because of something and I am unsure as to what it was. This topic is about Alexei smoking not Alexandra.  I think it is possible that Alexei could have smoked, but it may not be evidence of him smoking. But it can be possible you never know what they really did. Just because they didn’t mention it in letters, documents or memoirs doesn’t mean he didn’t actually smoke. He could have possibly smoked.

I just wanted to step in here, Valeriya (E-P), it's okay there, we see your getting flustered with things. It was simply just that we didn't understand what you meant about the "habit/nun" thing, just cool down. Now I'm sure everyone here didn't mean to bring up your occasional grammatical errors as a way to signal you out and hurt you, we just had no idea what you were trying to say. If you calm yourself everyone else can just let it drop.

And like you said, no one can be 100% sure whether or not a cigarette passed through Alexei's lips. However no evidence stands to prove it, so we all have our differing judgments on the matter. You have made your point clear as have the others. It's alright  Smiley

Thanks for your help Keegan, I really appreciate it! Yes it is alright, please lets not focus on this lets get back on topic to the main point of Alexei's smoking. Forget what I said before don’t worry about it. Let’s have a pleasant discussion please and move on. I hate to see disagreement and anger involved. Like everyone has said there is not evidence of him smoking. So we really don't know for sure. It remains a mystery we don't know if he really smoked or not because we don't have evidence to prove it. Smiley

Actually, nobody could know that for sure, Harvey.  That was an estimation only.

How often have doctors been wrong when they've given people only a certain time to live?  Many have lived for years after their predicted demise.

Well, OK but the fact is that everybody smoked in those days because the Surgeon General's report wasn't published until 1964. Four British monarchs died from the effects of long term cigarette smoking.

I have heard things which said that Alexei would have only lived up to the age of his late teens or early twenties. I've never thought that would be true, unless he sufferred from a very bad accident.
