The only film about Elizabeth I that came close to getting it right was the Glenda Jackson one...

A certain lovely person (who knows who she is ;D) got me the Glenda Jackson series on DVD for my birthday, I look forward to watching it!

Liam, enjoy! I think you will like it. Happy b-day! And Kim, you're an angel :-)

Thanks Helen! I intend to curl up with it tonight and watch as much as I can!

I can't wait to see it.  I hope it's just as good as the first movie.

Yes Helen Mirren does a much better job as Elizabeth I than Cate Blanchett.

Having seen the previews of the Movie I was afraid this would be the Outcome. I think Cate Blanchett is a great Actress and I always like for her to have good scripts. Unfortunately for History lovers, accuracy does not seem to sell Movies.l

Well, based on the first one, I was not expecting a lot of historical accuracy, just a lot of glamour and glitz... which has it's place sometimes. I am going to see it, but my expectations are not high.

I'm going to see the movie, too, this upcoming weekend, but I've heard nothing but bad things about the movie.  I absolutely loved the first one, and I assumed I would love the sequel too.  Oh, well, I'll probably enjoy it no matter what the critics say.  If it dosen't fit in with historic accurency, oh well.  I consider a movie good if it keeps me in my seat instead of going off to the bathroom.

Hi,

I saw it on the weekend.
I liked it and it was OK, but history, smistory, distory, doc - - it's not historically accurate but then, none of those costume epics ever are.

The costumes are exquisite but the wigs on Elizabeth and Mary, Queen of Scots are distracting.  Did they look like that??
And, did Elizabeth live in such a lavish palace?  Does anyone know what Richmond Palace look like?

Cate Blanchette and Clive Owen give excellent performances but Samantha Morton as Mary, Q of S gives the best in a short appearance, especially when she learns she's doomed......

Go and see it, you can only rely on your own opinion(s) and the critics be damned.
I've always wondered and wanted to ask if a critic could make a better movie or put on a better play!!!!!!

I don't think that's true...

I saw it. It was not historically accurate, but I didn't expect it to be. The costumes were amazing, but I thought the movie was a drag.
