I found this on a Spanish language board that may be run by Hola!

It dates to 1849. This is a voluptuous woman. The face is hard to make out, but all I did to the file name "eugemontijo" was add the date from the caption. The caption is "SEVILLA COLECCION PARTICULAR EUGENIA DE MONTIJO - CONDESA DE TEBA 1849 Obra de MADRAZO Y KUNZ FEDERICO 1815/94."

It was published in L'Illustration with the caption 'Comtesse de Teba' (Imperatrice Eugenie) by Federico Madrazo as well.

I know this is off topic since I am not posting a picture, but looking at the ones already posted made me think:  the woman currently portraying Catherine of Aragon in "The Tudors" on Showtime looks remarkably like Eugenie and would be a good fit in any future films.

It is a wonderful portrait, gogm! The same place contains also a portrait of María Manuela Kirkpatrick, mother of Eugenia. I always thought that Maria Manuela was a fascinating matchmaker to her daughters, Paca and Eugenia Wink
She was beautiful, not less beautiful than her daughters...

By the way, I´m searching a portrait of Paca, duchess of Alba...I suposse all the people who likes Eugenia would be pleased with a portrait of her only sister...

The Madrazo portrait is lovely.  Pre-dating her marriage to Napoleon III, it depicts her in the fashions of the late 1840's, a style that undoubtedly suited her, with the ubiquitous ringletted coiffure, so beloved in that decade.

I wish that I could make our the trimmings of flowers on her gown; they look like roses (of which there is a tasteful profusion) but it would be lovely to think that they were violets, which I think were her favourite flower?

Nevertheless, the portrait shows clearly that her immaculate taste in matters of dress and style was clearly in place before her elevation to a throne..........

Although there are so many lovely painting that were made of Eugenie during her lifetime, this one is perhaps my favourite.

Painted by Winterhalter in 1862, it shows Eugenie in royal mourning for her sister Paca, the Duchess of Alba.  It is clear to see in this painting that the Empress has undergone some amount of suffering and she is depicted as very pale and contemplative.  Her dress, although sumptuous is of the deepest black and her Spartan diadem, notable for its simplicity is set with a single large stone (perhaps an amethyst, permissible for half-mourning) surrounded  by either pearls or brilliants.  She is en grande toilette, her train edged with ermine and her white veil is entirely in line with French royal mourning.

This painting is both human and imperial; it depicts the grandeur and majesty of the Empress, yet reveals much of the personal aspect of the woman in her deep mourning for her much beloved sister...........

It was at Hillwood museum, but seems to be there no longer. All you could download was the same size image as that shown. There are black and white prints available with better resolution that I'll find and post.  Sad

I have read that the sister of Eugenie was darker and looked more Spanish in that sense...Does anybody have a portrait of her? I think she died quite early, as I read in a book on Napoleon III.

Here is a portrait of the Duchess of Alba by Winterhalter.   It seems that she has slightly darker hair and look very much like Eugenie but less beautiful.
