I would like to see photos of Eugenie in her older age, for the most of paintings show her when she was younger. Does anyone have them ?
A photo of the Empress in 1920, the year she died. It's perhaps my favourite picture of her. So touching...
Oh, it's great to see this picture of her as old lady....fascinating how long she lived....! I had never seen this photo before...! GREAT!

Interesting the typical caricature of that time! I know there are similar ones of that collection from Walewski and "Plon-Plon"...

Lovely collage!!! Thanks!
The bodice which Eugénie was wearing the day of assassination attempt by Orsini in 1858...
Eugénie was splashed with blood, but I don't see blood here. I suppose she was wearing a coat, it was the 14th january...

And the shoes which Eugénie was wearing the day of Queen Victoria's arrival in Paris, for the "Exposition Universelle" of 1855.
The label inside the shoes, with imperial arms!

It's funny to see those shoes of that time, how small they were! I saw the shoes of Catherine of Württemberg, wife of Jerome Napoléon, on the exhibition on Jerome in Kassel, Germany, this summer, and I coudn't hardly believe that they once wore a person, they seemed small like those of a doll to me! But I don't know about the size of Eugenie's shoes....

If I remember well, Eugenie's size was 36 (french) so US 4, UK 3.5...
(Sorry the pictures are not available for one day, I've got a little problem with my PC, all will be ok again this evening!)

It's small, but still "nomal", especially at that time, I would say...maybe those of Catherine were even smaller, it seems so, as the shoes really seemed sooo little....maybe also strange for me, because my feet are like a man: 42/43 in german, I think this is 9 in US...

Yes, 36 it's quite little but still normal at that time...

Great pictures. The boots are interesting and very beautiful! I haven't seen them before, only the other very light shoes of that time, and sometimes they rather lookes like slippers to me. Great so see!
