If you had lived as the Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov, or one of her other sisters or brother, what would you think of it? If you were born into a world where your royal life was god given, what would you make of it? On the one hand, you would probaly realize that you lived a completley fantastic life. Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Alexei lived within the wealth and luxury of Russia's most magnificent palaces, at least until the end of their lives. You may not have known this, but the other 80% of Russia was made up of the peasantry, this ended up being something Nicholas II could not ignore. But despite the unbelivable life you lived, what were you giving up? The grand duchesses were somewhat deprived of the total carefree life of childhood, yes they had each other, but what about outside of that? Any man that the girls liked had to be of royal lineage, and they could not socialize with just anybody. But if you ask me, up until 1917, it must have been a wonderful life, one that only we could only dream of, can you imagine how that must have been?

Me as a Royal? Probably I would have used my possition to benefit poor people. I suppose I would have been a nurse as Alix and the girls were at the time of the War, and would give money of my own to people who needs it. For me Royalty must live for people.

No thank you.    To me it would be kind of like being a celebrity - you live in a fish bowl and don't have a chance to live a normal life.

I don't envy any of the daughters. They were shut away from reality and then ended up prisoners who were brutally murdered.

If I'd be a royal..hmmm... I would use my money to help other people, especially those who were not so privileged.
I'd learn how to live life as normal as possible (not being imprisoned in a palace). I'd befriend good people who don't use other people as catapults to stardom.

Well said, I'm agree...Me as a royal, I would consider my whole people as my family, I would be a benevolent emperor and totally open toward my people.
Solidarity would be my principal activity.

Such a hard question! I don't suppose any of us know how we would cope till we were put in the situation.

I hope I'd help my people, generous with my money as well as my time. Maybe set up a religous house Like Grand Duchess Ella did. I'd definately want to help relieve the poverty people suffered.

I wouldn't want to be royality, seriously, if it was back in the early 20th century.

From reading the stories of Olga A, her life was based on protcol, everything was planned out such when to get up, when to have meals when to go to bed.  Also you couldn't marry for love, it had to be a marriage based on the approval of both parents.   It was a rariety to find a relationship where the couple were deeply in love ie Nicholas and Alexandra.  However Olga A spent nearly 15 years (am I correct at that) being married to a count who was homosexual.  She didn't even have sex with him and slept in her own quarters.  Basically it was a marriage of just friendship.   Until she finally meet the man of her romantic dreams who happened to be a commoner.

Today however Royality is more famous then ever.   Everything you do would be dissected by the public, look at Wills, Harry, Beatrice, Zara and Eugenie.   Everything they are doing being gossiped about,   My early recollection was of Zara (Daughter of Princess Anne) was said to have had piercing done to her tongue and navel and how that was a big OMG.
Then we move on to Harry whom has had so much bad press over the years.   A former boyfriend of Beatrice was a criminal while Wills is being scrutinised over his relationship with Katie Middleton.

This isn't a life I would want not back in the early 20th century nor today.
