Wilhelm and Rudolf don´t liked each other. Rudolf was a liberal and Wilhelm conservative. Rudolf was frustrated that Wilhelm became emperor before him.
I don´t know how the relationship was between Stephanien and Augusta.

Everything can be a lie. Loving poses, loving letters and so on. Many contemporaries said that Rudolf didn't like Wilhelm for the latter's pomp and fuss around himself.

They had to pretend they were friends but in fact no one of them liked each other. The historians convinced in this fact.

Franz Josef wasn't that keen on Wilhelm II either. Shortly after his accession in 1888 he made a state visit to Vienna, and Franz Josef wrote to Katerina Schratt saying that he wasn't looking forward to it at all, as he would have no peace until it was over. Edward VII, as Prince of Wales, visited either just before or just after, and, by contrast, both Franz Josef and Rudolf enjoyed having him there. I think it was Franz Josef, again writing to Katerina Schratt, who said he thought the Prince very sporting as he carried on riding even after splitting his red hussar trousers at the gallop - 'which must have been very uncomfortable as he was wearing nothing underneath'. It may have been Rudolf writing, however.

Ah, I see. what a shame. but then again Willy has a weird Imperial personality, so i don't blame Rudolf.

Sophie Chotek's eldest sister was also called Zdenka (Sidonie, 1861-1946). She became a nun in Riedenburg.

Sidonie (1805-1890), wife of Friedrich Dominik von und zu Fünfkirchen, was the daughter of Jan Nepomuk Josef Chotek who was the brother of Sophie's grandfather Karel. :-)
