No!Just a woman with extensive plastic surgery,She wanted heavy lidded"bedroom eyes".However the surgeon misunderstood her murmurring while she was going under anesthesia. He thought she said "eyes in the bedroom",so he sewed them closed. :(

This lookalike of the Prince of Wales, Guy Ingle, is so like HRH, lol! ;D :o

Willy: "I always said Uncle Bertie was the devil!" (Check out Bertie's tail)
I bet Willy was trying his best to catch up so HE could walk in front! ;D
Bwahaha. :) I've never noticed Bertie's 'tail' before. I remember reading that on that visit Wilhelm insisted on making a big deal of it and Bertie had to rummage around the uniforms he'd brought (a ton apparently--he loved dress up) to find just the right one only to find it didn't fit properly. *gasp* Horror for the always well-tailored Bertie. He was uncomfortable the rest of the time and it just added to his foul mood he was already in.

After seeing some of the positions Charles has been put in while carrying out his duties, I'm gaining some new sympathy for him!

Lovely photos!! I like the ones of Queen Mary, i think she realised the importance of touch, when communicating, just as Diana did! :)
-
It's a part of QM's persona that has somehow gotten lost. There are hundreds of photos that show her mixing in the public--moreso even than today's royals when security is so tight. There was a photo of her and GV basically being swallowed up in a crowd--unthinkable today.
Anyway, back to topic.

And you have certainly run out of my goodwill.
So glad that you could enjoy yourself at my expense; I might hope to do the same for you, if the opportunity arose, but will instead content myself with asking you to remove the images that feature my personal photos, which were not posted to provide you with cheap entertainment.
So, please comply, otherwise I shall have to waste time doing it for you.

Be my guest Martyn! I'm game. I've got a sense of humor about these things.
will instead content myself with asking you to remove the images that feature my personal photos, which were not posted to provide you with cheap entertainment.
So, please comply, otherwise I shall have to waste time doing it for you.
Looks like you can dish it out but you can't take it! Maybe you should remove this whole thread, since we have been poking fun at so many, not just you, Martyn. Maybe you should also remove those cruel posts about Anne you have made on numerous threads, which have provided us all with cheap entertainment for so long!
:-*
-
I have asked you to remove the posts that use my personal photos. I request that you do so.
My issue is that you used them for your own personal purposes without asking me; I am sure that you would have the same issue if personal images of you or your family were used in the same manner without prior permission.
You will oblige me in this, or I shall have to refer the matter to the FA.

I thought we were done with the 'martyn' business since it was provoking disagreement and dissension on the thread and were just going to post photos that allow us to make fun of something much better--among them Anne's clothes and royals in various embarrassing situations--things that don't bother anyone.

Messages like this are better left to pm's. No one here likes being singled out and scolded, least of all THE Grand Duke! Let's keep this a light hearted place to post and let bygones be bygones. ;) The Grand Ducal heart is in the right place. :)

I agree with that.
I am grateful to GDElla for trying to protect my sensibilities, but there is no longer any need.
As the one who overreacted to being singled out, I would like to apologise to Mrs Eddy, and all who had to read it, but the matter has been resolved, hopefully to the satisfaction of all concerned.
Plus, keeping the GD busy trying to find Martyn lookalikes isn't such a bad thing........although I must add that last image was from the early seventies, when I had only just made it into long trousers, and that bloke must have been sixty if he was a day! I can only suggest that the GD gets his specs out! ;)
So, back to the humour please, and let's see how many more people there are in the royal world who look like me?! And there I was thinking that I was unique! :D

I was responding in capacity of a moderator--even if its not of this thread, the FA has given us the responsibility to maintain the basic nature of the forum and I didn't want to see a repeat of the flare-up that occured before. I tried to make the comment lighter by remarking on the dress and situations.
It seems that it is back on track and no one is upset so that's good and I don't think more needs to be said. Back to embarrassing only the royals. :)
-
For me (and a for of others) the forum is a place where I come to let off steam and have FUN. Let's keep this thread at least lighthearted and not too schoolmarmish. Glad to see we're all friends again! :D

Yikes.....quite an interesting likeness of him..
-
I do like that portrait of Philip but can see why it might not be to everyone's taste.
It is a departure from the very literal representations of the RF, to which we are accustomed, but yet perhaps is more potent for the manner in which the subject is depicted and for the symbolism employed.
It is rumoured that this likeness did not find much favour with the Duke......... ;)

I thought it was funny because after a good scare nothing awful happened; isn't this the reason some people sometimes enjoy "practical jokes", "scary tunnels", etc.? It depends on the circumstances really.
Like with most unusual situations the excitement can discharge in laughter or fear, or both. For me this one has both because of the harmless result. I expect that soldier will have what to tell his grandchildren ;D

I think that it would be a toss-up as to who she blasted first - and it would be between you or me, GD! :D
So very reassuring though to see her garbed and equipped in a manner that is more suited to her temperament! :D
I wonder what she is shooting at? Jenni Bond perhaps?! ;)

I wonder what she is shooting at?
She is shooting against good-taste! ;D ;D ;D

"Princess Anne spots Ally Pally Forum Members Katieann and Martyn whilst on Salisbury Plain. HRH proceeds to show Katieann and Martyn that although she rarely shoots pheasants, she's a crack shot when it comes to peasants".
Speaking to a tame journalist later, the Princess was heard to make reference to "retribution for hair, makeup, old clothes and Harvey Nicks" - although the correspondent had no idea to what she was referring.

Well I guess perhaps the Kenny Chesney song "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" was referring to Charles & Camilla. Maybe they want "a little farm & a yard full of kids" (er.. maybe grandkids!)

Fantastic photo, Palimpsest!
Absolutely hilarious! I hooted when I saw this (but quietly as the sun's not even up yet)! They've always said there are a few odd bods coming to and from the palace!
Thank you, Palimpsest, for all your work in posting these fabulous photos for us to enjoy. The Forum would be a far duller place without you. :D

Thank you Grace! :)

A friend sent this to me so I have no idea of the source. I wish I did as someone deserves credit for it. The picture obviously came from Corbis

GREAT THIS FUNNY PICS!
How wonderful photos!
some years ago, I saw a photo, made by Lord Snowdon from the old Queen Mum! I had to take several looks to see, that it was Queen Mum, because she was looking only like a very very old woman, wearing a raincoat and having an umbrella in her hand!
Since a long time, I`m searching for this photo!
Does somebody of you has this photo???

The Prince of Wales uses garden shears to trim ivy away from a plaque, at the official opening of Poundbury Garden Centre, Poundbury, Dorset, England. Friday March 10, 2006. The Prince was on a tour of Poundbury, the urban extension to Dorchester.

Maybe he's inherited his great grandmother's known intense dislike of ivy?

Yes...the wanton destruction of ivy seemed to occupy the old darling between bouts of couvetousness...

"Take that, you evil ivy plant!!" ;D

Some would say that ivy was a communist plot...like sandals...

I'm not sure why I find this funny, but I do. ;D
I find it funny too, Palimpsest - that people would spend their time inventing something like this and would find amusement in watching a "match"...

It certainly has, the ad has, until recently, been banned from the TV because it says "bloody" ::)

I have no idea why that happened. The word "bloody" is an Australian way of life, for God's sake! "Where the bloody hell have you been?" 8-)
-
Do you really think so?
The people I mix with don't seem to say it that much... :question
I just don't think it was necessary to promote Australia in that way...just my personal opinion though.
-
I was born in the mostly "lower-class" bits in South Australia--I grew up with that word, so did my friends. Sorry :-[

Don't sell yourself short La Bella. There's nothing low class about you. Some people on this forum like to put on airs and graces. ;)
-
La Bella Regina, there is no need to apologise for your opinion here. Everyone is entitled to it.
As far as putting on "airs and graces", no one around here that I know about is doing that. I certainly use the word "bloody" myself reasonably frequently but that is an entirely different thing than using it in advertising, in my opinion.

Hmmm, South Australia...ringing a bell...could your first name begin with "K" perchance?
If so, welcome back! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
