Barring any unforeseen developments within the next two weeks, I shall be deleting my longtime account. My plans are for fulfillment of a much-anticipated desire to return to the Continent for extensive travel and study centered on my prime interest, that of the Western Mediaeval Era.
My thanks to those with whom I have communicated, Administration and Forum members. I wish continued good luck, health and happiness to all.
Regards, Aleksandr Pavlovich.

Good luck.
-
Yeah best of luck AP, but I'm confused...
Why are you deleting your account?
-
You and your informative contributions will be greatly missed by all. I second the suggestion you not delete your account. Simply not using it for a long time will not be of any harm to anyone, and leaves you free to pop back in sometime if you change your mind. Best wishes to you in your new endeavors!

Thank you for your kind words, Rob. I am most appreciative. Deletion will allow me a total re-focusing of my historical interest/s. Rather like "stepping out into the night air, breathing deeply and looking at the stars with different eyes."
Sincere regards, AP.

Good luck. Envy you a bit. : )
-
Bonne chance, AP!
-
Hope it goes well for you, AP.
Will a deletion of his account also mean the loss of his posts?
-
No, his existing posts will remain. It just means he won't be making any new ones.

I second that. Thanks God I saw this before you delete your accoiunt -- but honestly, Aleksandr Pavlovich, you will be truly missed, I really enjoyed all your post, those are truly amazing, and thank you again for all kind words you told me! ;-)

P.S. To be honest, I was thinking about deleting my account as well, but....Eh, it's been almost seven years, I gave good part of my childhood and adolescence on here, spending hours and hours to share all photos and information with dear people here, instead of doing something else. But Somehow I do not regret...;-)

Sorry if this comes across poorly, but why does anyone delete an account? Unless they are trying to make a point of announcing their disgust like an Alixz. Otherwise it's not like this is a paid service. Isn't it a 100-times easier just to choose to not post indefinitely?
-
Dear Alekandr,
I wish you all the good fortune in your travels and endeavours.
We will miss you, as you have always been a courteous, intelligent and informative presence here.
Good luck!!

At least he's telling us his intention to depart, unlike others, who just vanished without a word of warning or explanation (no names are necessary, we all know who I'm talking about).

True. And I certainly wish AP well. It's just disappointing is all. Losing good members permanently that is...
Best of luck in all your future endeavors!
-
You will be missed, Aleksandr Pavlovich. Hopefully this will not be forever, so instead of saying goodbye, I will just say farewell and bon voyage!
-
AP, you will be missed! I always enjoyed reading your opinions. Good luck for the future!
-
Let me add to the many voices saying that you will be sorely missed AP. Your contributions have been fantastic.
I wish you the absolute best!

To all my acquaintances, known and unknown, on this Forum:
As I write this, I am reminded of a quote from "Through the Looking-Glass": "The time has come, the Walrus said........"
And indeed, the time has come to take my leave from you. I will move to delete my account after this, my last posting.
In summation, may I say that I am humbled by your expressions of kind words and wishes upon my departure. It has been a fantastic experience to share this Forum with you these five-plus years.
I salute you all.
With warmest regards, Aleksandr Pavlovich.

AP, I am sad to see you go, and hope you will return.
I have always appreciated your thoughtful posts.
