Right now what annoys me as someone who really wants to buy two specific books is the Eurohistory publishing house and their AWFUL customer service when they take your money, send no book and completely ignore your e-mails.
I mean - I own quite a few books published by Eurohistory and I am really glad they publish stuff nobody else does, but this is NOT how you treat your customers.

I share your frustration. I ordered a book nearly four months ago and have yet to see a trace of it (although my payment was processed at the time the order was placed); it seems the book is out of print, but the website advertises it as "in stock."
.
I enjoy their books very much, and I too appreciate all their hard work, but I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with this transaction.

That's awful. I've never had this problem with Amazon.

Or with Thrifthbooks, or with Bookdepository, or with Hoogstraten or with Ozon.Ru.... this is only Eurohistory being unprofessional, and even incompetent.

One has to wonder how they manage to stay in business.

It's very disappointing, as they've published some excellent books...

Sounds to me that they need new management.

3 and a half months later.
No book.
No money returned.
And worse: NO SINGLE ONE BLOOMING REPLY FROM THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

Absolutely unbelievable. I'm in the same boat, though.

Sounds like you two got ripped off.

It does, doesn´t it? Which is all the more shocking considering this is EUROHISTORY we are talking about. I even wrote a PM to Arturo Beéche who runs it here on AP, and I commented on their blog. NOTHING.
-
I'm thinking about giving them a one-star review on their Facebook page...
-
Sounds like they took your money and ran.
Sucks when that happens.
-
I DID receive a reply today, finally. Hopefully it will all go well from here. But I think I´ll buy the Eurohistory books through other sellers from now on.
-
Are you going to get your book?

I had a similar situation to yours Ally a number of years ago with the '1903 Ball' Book. It was an expensive purchase $500+ and I been put off, or ignored entirely for over a year. I had emailed, called, and even posted on this form and got nothing. It wasn't until I brought it up (a year+ later) on an AP controversial thread... in which the thread exploded with others (who like us) didn't receive their books or refund. I then got a refund on the book, and the thread was deleted. But, as I've had the same email since 2004, I still have all the records/communication of the transaction. The situation had put a very bad taste in my mouth, and I have never ordered from Eurohistory since. (nor likely ever will -- as it seems things are the same). But it is a real shame. The books that Eurohistory puts are rare for this niche market, and I'd like to invest in them... if only one could get a hold of them without feeling like they're being taken for a ride.

And speaking as a proofreader, their books are very poorly edited for the price...
I just sent them a pointed email and told them I want my money back. We'll see what happens, anyway.

How do these clowns get away with this?
This is no way to run a business.
-
Are you going to get your book?
I decided to wait for now, since I REALLY want the book and it´s terribly expensive when it appears on e-bay/amazon.
Laura - that is AWFUL. 500 dollars is a completely atstronomical sum! I agree completely with you that the books published by Eurohistory are rare and I don´t believe there are THAT many buyers. One would like to support the publisher like that, if only, besides interesting books, they offered decent customer service like any other professional.

I agree. You pay that much for a book you never receive. I would be thinking of taking legal action against them if they ripped me off like that.
-
Update: I STILL DO NOT HAVE THE BOOK OR REFUND.
And my e-mails are ignored.
Do not purchase anything from Eurohistory. At this point I dare say I was robbed by them.
You what is my problem though? In November I sent them a pretty sharp e-mail. THAT e-mail did get an answer. And of course being the soft me, I immediatelly apologized for my anger. I shouldn´t have.
-
I have given up on Eurohistory, so I'm just going to eat my $40.00. And I completely understand where you're coming from with the apology, as I'm the same way, but it's safe to say I will never order from them again, and I would not recommend them to anyone.
-
I felt that this topic deserved its own thread. People must be warned about buying from Eurohistory.
-
Thank you Tim!
I also believe people should be wary, because they will get nothing for their money. And the books by Eurohistory are not cheap!

Ismt Eurohistory managed by a member of this forum?
That s pretty terrible.

Yes, it is managed by a member of this forum... definitely terrible.
-
Yup, terrible and SHAMEFUL.!
-
Isn't Eurohistory managed by a member of this forum?
Well, then perhaps we should send this person a message: Either deliver on the books that folks here have ordered, or refund their money.

Can you take it up with your credit card company?

And he s also an active member in several royal groups in facebook.

This is what I suggested in my latest mail to them. NO response still. This is really unpreceded for me. Every single bookstore (or any store for that matter) I have ever dealt with delivered the goods or refunded, all that in very courteous manner. It really goes to show how unprofessional the people behind Eurohistory are.

Perhaps those of you that got ripped off should consider legal action. You paid for those books in good faith, and if Eurohistory is not going to deliver, or refund your money, take them to court.

Get the word out, everyone. People have to be warned about being ripped off by Eurohistory.
