Title: House Bourbon-Orléans today. News and announcements

Henri, Comte de Paris, Duc de France
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Henri Philippe Pierre Marie d'Orléans, Comte de Paris, Duc de France is the Orleanist pretender to the French throne. As king, he would be Henri VII.

He was born on June 14, 1933, as son of Henri, Comte de Paris and his wife Isabelle of Orleans-Braganza. He was born in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Belgium, because a 1886 law banned the heirs of formerly reigning French dynasties from entering France. This law was only abrogated in 1950, but Henri had already been allowed to enter France by special favour of President Vincent Auriol in 1948.

On August 25, 1940, Henri's grandfather, Jean, Duc de Guise died. His father was now recognised by most French royalists as head of the French royal house, and Henri became their dauphin.

He studied at the Institut des Sciences Politiques in Paris. After that, he served in the military, notably during the Algerian War of Independence.

On July 5, 1957, he married Duchess Marie-Thérèse of Württemberg (born 1934). He received the title Comte de Clermont. Five children were born out of this union.

MARIE (born 1959) married Prince Gundakar of Liechtenstein (born 1949), and has issue
FRANÇOIS (born 1961), Count of Clermont, severely disabled.
BLANCHE (born 1962), severely disabled.
JEAN (born 1965), Duke of Vendôme and Dauphin de Viennois, unmarried.
EUDES (born 1968), Duke of Angoulême, married to Marie-Liesse de Rohan-Chabot (born 1969), with whom he has two children

Thérèse (born 2001)
Pierre (born 2003)
The marriage was unhappy, and ended up in a divorce in 1984. That same year Henri married Micaela Cousiño Quinones de Leon (born 1938). As this marriage was not celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church, it was not recognised by a number of French royalists. Henri's father, too, was furious; he disinherited Henri and stripped him of his titles and gave him the lesser-valued title Comte de Mortain (a slight hint: whereas Clermont was once held by for example the cadet son of St Louis who became the ancestor of the Bourbon line, Mortain had been held for example by John Lackland of England, who at that time was regarded as lacking land and inheritance). Henri, and a number of French royalists who considered it impossible for a head of the royal house to unilaterally disinherit someone, never recognised his father's decision, and refused all mail addressed to him as Comte de Mortain. Meanwhile, Marie-Thérèse, the former Comtesse de Clermont, was granted the title "Duchesse de Montpensier" by her father-in-law.

After a couple of years, tensions lessened, and Henri's father reinstated him as dauphin and gave Micaela the title "Princesse de Joinville".

In an attempt to establish his legal rights as head of the Royal House of France, Henri launched an unsuccessful court case (1987-1989) in which he challenged his rival Luis Alfonso, "Duc d'Anjou"'s right to use the undifferenced Royal Arms. The French courts denied that they had jurisdiction over the dispute and did not address the merits of the case.

On June 19, 1999, Henri's father died and Henri became the new head of the French royal house (according to his supporters). He took the titles Comte de Paris and Duc de France. His wife became known as Duchesse de France, in order to enable Henri's widowed mother to continue to use the title Comtesse de Paris. On July 5, 2003, Henri's mother died, and Micaela started to use the title Comtesse de Paris.

After his father's death, Henri annulled his father's decision to disinherit his brothers Michel (Comte D'Evreux) and Thibaut (the late Comte de la Marche) from their rights to the throne, because they married commoners. He also bestowed titles upon his nephews by brother Jacques, Duc d'Orleans, Prince Charles-Louis of Orléans, Duke of Chartres (11 Jul 1972 - ), m. 21/28 Jun 1997 Ileana Manos (22 Sep 1970 - ), and Prince Foulques of Orléans, Duke of Aumale (9 Jul 1974 - ) and comte d'Eu Foulques d'Orleans .

He also recognised his eldest, disabled, son François as heir, with the title Comte de Clermont, with a 'regency' by his middle son, Prince Jean, Duke de Vendome.

The Duke of Chartres has more than the children here mentioned.  Likewise with the Duke of Angoulême.

Thanks for these fantastic pictures!! Are they again from point de Vue?? ;D ;D

Very fine!

Prince Charles-Philippe of Orleans must be engaged or even married now (I do not exactly know...) with Deborah Murat(-Noyon), the daughter of the famous piano player Caroline Murat, a direct descendant of the Bonapartes and the general and brother-in-law of Napoleon I, Joachim Murat...

Where the any reports or pictures about this marriage or engagement?

I think they have already a child by the time, I have read it. Is it a son or a daughter?? Any pictures of Papa with child? :-*

Bonaparte-Bourbon marriages are always very interesting....

Pr. Charles-Philippe is dating Diana de Cadaval.

Recently he took part on a reality show (sort of Survivor) in Brazil.
Apparently he was last but-one to be expelled.
But he got a nice coverage on PdV for a couple of weeks :D

Is he not together anymore with Deborah Murat?

I saw them as couple on different pictures and I seem to remember that I had also read something about a child.

What happened with the relation, are they separated again?

Thanks for any info :)

The second son of the duchesse de Montpensier, Marie-Thérèse de Wurtemberg, and the Comte de Paris, Henri d’Orléans has announced on the  28th of november 2008, his engagement to Doña Philomena de Tornos y Steinhart.

Doña Philomena de Tornos y Steinhart is the grand-daughter of Juan de Tornos y Espeliú, the former private secretary of the late Count of Barcelona, the Infante Juan of Spain, who  is the father of King Juan Carlos I of Spain.

It is the second engagement of Jean d’Orléans, since in 2001 his engagement to Tatjana d’ Oldenbourg, a German aristocrat Duchess, had been cancelled supposedly because of her religion six months after the announcement.

Due to the handicap of his elder brother, François d’Orléans, the Duc de Vendôme is considered by the Orléanistes as the heir to the throne of France

I was there myself yesterday afternoon. It took quite a while for the bride, groom & guests to come out of the townhall but I had a lovely time with fellow royalists under a dazzling sun meanwhile.

Agneschen - are you back?  :-) :-) :-)

I am indeed dear Marie !!

To go back to the civil wedding of Duke Jean, the bride had hardly left her car that photographers jumped on her in a most undignified way and she had almost trouble getting her way to the townhall. Impossible for us simple mortals to take a pic. It was pretty difficult photographing her when she left the townhall as well as her car drove through the people to pick her up right under the steps (and almost ran on my feet). Photographing the groom and the guest was pretty easy, they all look happy and smiling. The Duke of Orléans was the first to leave and did so on his bicycle under the photographers' surprised eyes ! A TV team was also there and filmed a few of us (they tried to ask me a few questions but I begin hiding behind my hair and replied in a very short manner as I hate being filmed - hope they will cut me !!). We were about 20 to 25 eagerly awaiting our Dauphin and his bride.
I am planning to go to Senlis on May 2 for the religious wedding.  I will do my best to bring back pics.

Pics of the engaged couple and their respective families can also be found at :http://www.picturedesk.com/ (http://www.picturedesk.com/) (type "Philomena de Tornos" in the search field).
They were taken last Christmas in Vienna. I believe they are the first pictures I have ever seen of Eudes & Marie Liesse of Angoulème's children, Pierre & Thérèse (both seem to have inherited the famous Orléans blue eyes). Pics of Prince François & Princess Blanche, who are both handicapped, are also rare.

Sadly the groom's mother Marie Thérèse, Duchess of Montpensier, was unable to attend as she has been admited to hospital yesterday. Her condition is reported not to be serious but how sad it must have been for her to miss her son's wedding. Prince Jean entered the church with his maternal aunt Marie Christine Liechenstein.

The bridal dress is a creation of French fashion designer Christian Lacroix. The turquoise tiara & the veil belong to the bride's family. I personally do not quite like her dress & tiara : not the best combination of colors I have seen ... the flower embroidered bolero is very lovely though.

Were there any "known" cousins of de Tornos or von Steinhart family?
I am afraid I wouldn't recognise members of de Tornos or von Steinhart family.

I am convinced now that the lady in pink in the company of Archduchess Margherita of Austria-Este, is her eldest daughter Archduchess Maria Beatrix of Austria-Este, Countess von Arco-Zinneberg. The lady in black is her eldest daughter Countess Anna-Teresa von Arco-Zinneberg. French version of 'Royals' magazine has a clear picture.
Additional guest: Prince Pierre d'Arenberg.

HRH Prince Charles-Philippe d'Orléans, Duke d'Anjou, has given his support to an organization working to rebuild the lost Château de Saint-Cloud, which burnt to the ground during the Prussian siege of Paris in 1870.
