Title: The Baden Family in XVIII-mid XIX cent.
Post by: synnadene on June 12, 2006, 08:37:35 AM
I'm looking for portraits about the wives and daughters of the Grand Dukes of Baden from
Caroline Louise of Hessen-Darmstadt (wife of Carl Friedrich)
to Princess Cecilie, Grand Duchess of Russia.

I'm especially interested in the daughters of Karl Ludwig of Baden and Amalie of Hessen-Darmstadt:

Amalie (1776-1823)
Caroline (1776-1841), Queen of Bavaria
Louise (1779-1826), Empress of Russia
Friderike (1781-1826), Queen of Sweden
Marie (1782-1808), Princess of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel
Wilhelmine (1788-1836), GDss of Hesse

and

Princess Sophie of Sweden, daughter of King Gustav IV Adolf and Friderike of Baden.

Maria-Alexandra, princess Wolfgang of Hesse-Kassel

The full name of Caroline's twin-sister was Katharina Amalie Christiane Luise, but she was called by her second name "Amalie". Caroline called her first daughter Amalie (later Queen of Saxony and twin-sister of Elise, Queen of Prussia) after her own twin-sister. Anyway, too much twins for me ...  :o

By the way: It's the same with little Princess Catharina Amalia of the Netherlands who is called "Amalia".

I hope, that José and everybody else like the pictures.
Maybe sy can also send some, especially about Wilhelmine Louise, Duchess of Hesse, and about Luise of Nassau-Usingen, as José said.  :)

But my all time favourites are the Queen Friederike of Sweden and her daughter Sophie.  :)

Nice day for everyone,

S.

Without imposing, can you add any pics of Maria-Alexandra (1902-44), wife of Wolfgang of Hesse ?

Thanks in advance
