ok well 'this is for MS paint users'
you have to images... 'that are the same'

you keep one on hand.. and one in the program
you color in the skin or what ever and the image on hand will help you where the shadows are
so you can color those in a darker shade.
do you get it?

and clock.. you certainly don't need it!

i think that was year 1915? i could be wrong or 1914.

Your welcome! I think you mean about opacity and to make the the pictures seem 'brighter' so to speak, there should be an opacity option on the toolbar at the top of your computer screen, by adjusting the opacity you can make the colours more vivid (that is if you're using photoshop!)

But I do! I think you did a great job on it considering the original is kind of hard to discern in places where their bodies end and the water begins. Welcome back!

Emily, I didn't know about the opacity option. I'll have to try that! I still need to remember to do a watermark on my pictures as well. Thanks for the tip about the opacity. ;D

I find layers confusing in photoshop, I haven't got the hang of them! I learned most of what I know about colourisation from this tutorial, and (for me anyway!) it is a much simpler way to colour with none of the confusuion of using layers. Here's the tutorail:

Unfortunately I don't know anything about layers so I can't help you with your present problem, but hopefully the tutorail will help when you colour another picture!

I hate to break it to you isabel but the picture is NOT recolorized. You posted the photo in black and white and I save the black and white picture and colored it myself. Just because I chose white for the dresses and green for the trees, does that mean I copied from you? Clearly not. And, I have not reason to copy your picture when I am able to color my own. :-( I am going to take this to a moderator.

When i saw your picture my first impression was that both were very similar (of course the original is the same picture in b&W), overcoat the cushion, and other little details.

I have read again my post telling you this, i admit that i have be a little brusque, it was not my intention Otmafan, really not. It´s not an excuse, but my english is not very good, and i can´t express my shelf as i want.

Of course you are able to colorize very well, i still remember your last IRENE OF GREECE, it was beautifull and very well done.

As far as the Astrid photo (there's more to it by the way), I couldn't find it in black and white. There's a link to a bunch of huge photos of Astrid over the years on the AP somewhere, but I can't seem to find it right now. The best solution I can give you all is to save the pics to your pc or laptops, and just color it black and white or use the "smart photo fix" options and select "less color" or something.

If I find any of these photos in b&w I'll be sure to post them as soon as I can.
