Hello, last year I decided I would create a 3D model of the Alexander Palace so in July I went and taken over 2000 photographs of the facade and the public museum detailing what remains. The photographs lay dorment on my pc for a while as I was busy with a few Disney projects, but yesterday I began to create the Alexander Palace in 3D. It will probably take me a week to get the facade and basic interiors finished, then another few weeks polishing off- hope you enjoy!

WOW! Wonderful work! My boyfriend dabbles in 3D-Studio, so I understand the hard work put into this.
I look forward to any future updates on the project! :)
-
I echo. Look foward to more of your work.
-
Amazing! A great addition to the site!

Thank you for all the great comments! :) Today i've managed to build sides of the left wing, theres still a bit missing but most of the main stuff is there. List of things i'm starting on the facade tomorrow- basement windows, center, right wing & roof. I've already built the outline of the rooms for the children's floor and tomorrow will be 'decorating' Olga and Tatiana's room; and if I have enough time Anastacia and Maria's.

Lovely work! I can only imagine all the work putting into designing it from the outside, but the interior as well? Marvellous!
Can I ask which 3D rendering program you're using? The amount of work you can crack out in a day in is impressive!
I look forward to future updates! :)

Thanks for the nice comments Laura! I'm using 3DS MAX 9 for the facade and interior. At the moment i'm just adding chimneys and air vents :p
-
Anytime! You're doing a wonderful job!
3DS Max 9? Wow! you're using the latest and greatest! My boyfriend is only using 3DS Max 8. How long have you been doing 3D art? You look quite professional!
I'm really excited to see the finished product. Is your model true to blueprints and scale? *two thumbs way up!* ;D
-
I've been working in 3d for about 5 years now, so I was 15 when I started :P The model interior/exterior is accurate to the floorplan blueprints and scale, as for the facade details .etc i've only been working from photographs; but the results should be fairly accurate!
I forgot to mention i'm also working on character models of the last tsar and his family in zBrush, these will take a bit longer than the buildings but I started the tsar on sunday-

The images over the last few days have been fairly repetitive, so tomorrow I shall post a few of the interior including OT/MA's rooms & the starting of the Formal Study Room of Nicholas II (which i've just started work on)! I'll also be getting the first phase of my Romanov 3D website up on www.silentasylum.com tomorrow, but i'll give a formal announcement of that later!

I won't lie, I'm glued to this project. It's a very refreshing thread and the project is wonderfully constructed.
I noticed your user-avatar says Ipatiev 3D, (it's on your site as well) do you intend on making a model of that as well?
I've very interested in your projects (if you can't tell already ;D) and look forward to your wonderful updates!
-
Wow! Amazing work. I'm eagerly awaiting a 3D OTMA. ;D Can't wait to see their rooms.

Thank you so much for your great comments! And I apologize for not updating this topic for a while, I have been very busy developing the Romanov Dynasty website and it's 3d content. Hopefully it won't take too much longer to finish!
Here's a fictitious 3d scene based inside Nicholas II's Formal Study.

Hello! Thanks for all the great comments! I've just returned from my 1 week trip to St Petersburg so i'll finish my site and some more screenshots very soon. When I was there I managed to get alot of great material to use for the site, luckily Sunday and Monday were beautiful days so I got lots of photographs.
I'm off to upload the 13'354 photographs I took ;)
-
Covenant, thanks for the update! As you know we all here have been eagerly waiting for more of your 3d designs. Thank you for sharing your talent in this forum and goodluck to your site!

I'm off to upload the 13'354 photographs I took ;)
Are you going to put them someplace where we can see some of them? Pretty please? :-*

Yes Sarushka's quite right, will you do so? Oh please do!!! ;D

Thanks for the comments everyone! I will be able to show some of the many photographs I took, but all of them are in Camera Raw .CR2 format and over 10mb each so it takes a while to sort through them! Anyway, sorry for the lack of updates- i've been incredibly busy sorting out the website structure and content. I had to restart the Alexander Palace model from scratch last week due to some minor structural problems, but fortunately i'm back on track with it again and the exterior should be finished before monday.

Thanks again for all the great comments! The palace is about 95% completed now with only some minor geometry to be copied or built, here's another picture I rendered a few minutes ago - (http://www.romanovdynasty.com/images/ap1.jpg)
Enjoy!
-
That is a great news, we really would want to see the the complete version, you're doing a nice work!
-
Lovely work! Congratulations! YOu must have such fun using the computer program to do all of this.
-
I apologize for the lack of updates, i've been focusing on developing a bulk of the website for the past few months and as such haven't had as much time to post online. But here are a few images of what the model looks like at the moment- the scenery/landscape is still incomplete but will be updated as soon as the Alexander Park buildings are complete.
