Hello!  I'm a French speaker. If you want, give me the details of this source and I'll go look it up to make sure it's translated correctly :) The book is pretty old maybe I could find it online.

I should try to find the source of this, but beside this scientific evidence, it is said to be Maria probably had the gene - I really need to find the primary source on this, but it was said that Maria bled a lot more than most when she had a surgery (tonsils removal? My memory isn't great at the moment), so it was assumed she may have had the gene.

Imperial Russian History / Re: The Legacy of Nicholas II
« on: April 16, 2019, 11:06:17 AM »
The protests that led to "Bloody Sunday" were because of the surrender of the fortress of Port Arthur by it's inept commander.

That's quite a big generalization, many more causes can be linked to the Bloody Sunday like the long insatisfaction towards monarchy, the poor social conditions of the worker class, etc. The end of the Russo-Japanese war was included, but it should probably be seen as a catalyst and not the only cause. History is always more complex.

Just saw the furniture picture, can't wait to see the restored version ! Last time I was there was in 2014 and it was very emotional, can't imagine going back in 2020.

Hello guys !

I just wanted to pass the info that my master's supervisor has a book that is coming out in November ! It's by Alison Rowley and she's specialized on Russian popular culture. She wrote Monarchy and the Mundane and that article is likely to be expanded in the new book.

So it's not directly related to the Imperial Family, but there'll be postcards about them and I thought it could interest some of you :)

Here's the Amazon link : http://www.amazon.ca/Open-Letters-Russian-Postcard-1880-1922/dp/144264706X

Hello guys !
I won't be able to upload the pictures until July 21th maybe (i'm on a notebook while travelling and I have way too many pictures for its poor memory). You can still look on my blog (in French), I put some pictures, but there's not many. I'll try to fulfill your requests too, it makes me happy to have little "missions" when going back there.

My request is for some more photos of the back of the palace. I want to see what's going on back there since it looks like they've built a sidewalk going along the back.

I'll try to zoom on it, but when I was there 5 days ago, there was some construction.. so I couldn't see much.

Also, the second floor is now closed to public, which made me sad, but I'll try to speak my way out with a nice lady working there.. no results guaranteed haha !  Here's a picture of the back, next time I'll try to go nearer. You can see the construction.

Finally, there was still broken plaster on the outside of the palace but it's looking sooo much better than 5 years ago so I was happy.

Hello guys !

I just came back from the Alexander Palace 2 days ago and I have LOT of pictures. Would you be interested in particular rooms or pictures ? I tried to take everything, but I'll come back there before the end of July if you have a special request. I can put up a link for an album on Dropbox if you want to look at them :)
