Oh yes me too, Dru. I haven't seen that before. It's quite pretty.

It is a breathtaking portrait Ally Kumari. It was posted in a German site a few weeks ago where it was a part of an exhibition at the Schlossmuseum in Darmstadt about the Darmstadt princesses who married into the Romanov family. There were also other portraits of Ella by Kaulbach as well as of Alix that weren't posted in full color or quality before. I hope someone here in the forum was able to get the book for the exhibition. There were lots of portraits there according to the website! :-)

Found this as Elizabeth Alexeievna from Celia Rose Antiques.

This portrait of Alexandra is an amazing find, Dru! I've been wanting to see it in ages! Where did you find it? Thank you very much for sharing it. :-D

Oh I've been hoping to see that in color! Thank you for sharing it Dru! :-)

The portrait above was from the collection of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich. Apparently, Sergei admired the Empress Elizabeth so he liked collecting portraits and mementos of the Empress.

Found a new portrait of the Grand Duchess Elizabeth. It's from the collection of Michael Romanoff Ilyinsky, the grandson of Grand Duke Dimitri Pavlovich. He gave this portrait and some personal collection of the grand duke to the Tsarskoe Selo Museum Reserve. http://eng.tzar.ru/info/info-events/title/?id=3175

A bigger and clearer version of Alix's famous portrait by F.A. von Kaulbach.
It's the best version I was able to find.

It's lovely, Dru! And the child she's holding is her son William, right?

A new book about Tsar Alexander I will be released in November. I think it's about time that a new bio about this complex man will be released.

Thank Marie Valerie! The lady had some of Catherine Pavlovna's features: her dark hair and large eyes. :)
