in the middle of the 18 century this route was named as Admiralteyskaya road.
since the second half of 18 century it was called Gorokhovaya after a german merchant Garrah (in russian it sounds like Goroh) who had his own store there. that shop became very popular among inhabitants.
After revolutin Gorokhovaya turned into Komissarskaya and then Dzerzhinskaya.
