Having Fun! / Re: Romanov Paper Doll Book
« on: July 21, 2011, 02:00:04 PM »
That's neat, APFELBLUME! Is it more of a collecter's set, or could children actually play with them if they wanted to?

it can be both! i ordered one copy and they sent me two. so there's one i'm keeping pristine and the other i've cut up already.

Having Fun! / Romanov Paper Doll Book
« on: July 21, 2011, 01:11:51 AM »
just wanted to share a very interesting book i purchased recently. here i've included pictures of every doll, but only some of the clothes, as there are quite a few pages. i thought it was interesting to see the different colourings of uniforms and court gowns we've seen so often in photos, not to mention different views on the romanov family and friends. the book included nicholas, alexandra, alexei, olga, tatiana, maria, anastasia, nagorny and rasputin. nagorny and rasputin were the only ones without extra clothes.

i'm completely color blind, but over the years i've grown a knack for guessing different colors by examining the shade. with black and white photographs it's similar, but even then, exposure and light come into play which can effect the way a color might look. not to mention with photos uploaded to the internet, the images can get distorted. but, i will say, of all the pictures i've seen of tatiana, her eyes have always appeared a deep blue. this is just what i can see, but from having to spend my whole life guessing for colors, her eyes have always looked a dark, grayish blue.

a quick question/observation on the number of formal portraits. because he was the heir, are there considerably more formal portraits of alexei than any of his sisters?

“the grand duchess tatiana was as charming as her sister olga, but in a different way. she has been described as proud, but i never knew anyone less so. with her, as her mother, shyness and reserve were accounted as pride, but once you knew her and had gained her affection, this reserve disappeared, and the real tatiana became apparent. she was a poetical creature, as always yearning for the ideal, and dreaming of great friendships which might be hers. the emperor loved her devotedly, they had much in common, and the sisters used to laugh, and say that, if a favor were required, ‘tatiana must ask papa to grant it.’ she was very tall, and excessively thin, with a cameo-like profile, deep blue eyes, and dark chestnut hair… a lovely ‘rose’ maiden, fragile and pure as a flower.”

Hey all you great bonnie people who want to get this game! It's really fun and you can build houses too, so that's a plus if you like archietecter and graphing. It's a fun game and you will love playing it! But it can also eat up your whole day if you aren't careful! Remember to not download too much stuff from the Sims2 website or else your game will take HOURS to load. I learned that the hard way!  ;D Happy Simmin'!
