French Royals / L imperatrice Marie Louise
« on: June 08, 2006, 09:57:12 AM »
I have no affection at all for Marie Louise....  :(

But as wife of Napoleon I and mother of the charming and tragic NapoleonII, she deserves a thread.... ::)

It is interesting that this plain Archduchess who would have probably married an archduke and would have been another unknown and insignificant Archduchess, pass to history because of the man she abandonned.

I have the impression that she was cold heart, Napoleon used to say that she did not love her son, for she was not a very affectionate mother, I believe she did not like to carry him. Something amazing also is the fact taht she NEVER ask for her aunt Marie Antoinette, she never ask where her aunt`s corpse was....

French Royals / L`Imperatrice Josephine

I am very fond of Josephine, I think she hasd a quite interesting destiny,

She was born Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de la Pagerie in Les Trois-Îlets, Martinique on a slave plantation, the daughter of its owner Joseph-Gaspard de Tascher, chevalier, seigneur de la Pagerie, lieutenant of infantry of the navy, and Rose-Claire des Vergers de Sanois.African blood ran through the Tascher family. She married the viscount Alexandre de Beauharnais who was guillotined during the terror, she herself was condemned too, but was saved, from that maraige she had Eugene and Hortense.
As a widow, Joséphine de Beauharnais was mistress to several leading political figures, including Paul François Jean Nicolas Barras. She met General Napoléon Bonaparte, who was six years younger than she, in 1795, when their romance began
This was the beginning of the great love napoleon would have for her.

A fortune teller predicted that she wa going to wear a crown but would be unfortunate in love!!!

history has not been kind to Louis XVI, as well as his courtiers and contemporaries. He has being painted as an incapable man, with little intellidence, no wit, and a poor husband and lover!!!!!
But it was not the case, Louis Xvi was smart he was the first french sovereign to speak english, and most importnat he truly loved his people! 8)
