Does anyone know who originally said:

Etiquette is for people with no breeding and Fashion is for people with no style.

Thanks,

Their World and Culture / Designs by Worth and Other Haute Coutures Part I

Empress Alexandra & Queen Marie of Romania both had clothes from "Worth".  What or who is "Worth".  Is it a "store" or is it a designer or is it a "Design House"?

Is it still in existance?

Where else did Empress Alexandra "buy' clothes for herself and her daughters?

Could someone please give an overview of the three "families" with a claim to the French Throne and how or why they justify their claims?

What was the problem here?

I have read in several places that Ella loved children.  I have read she was very close to Felix & Dimitri both as children and young adults.

Why could she not mother or get on with her ward Marie Pavlovna The Younger?

Drumroll & Bagpipes please:

1.  Missy, Queen Marie of Romania-got lemons and made lemonade
2.  Alix, Queen Alexanda of Great Britian-looked beautiful and 30 years old until the day she died
3.  Sarah, Duchess of York-a survivor
4.  Wallis, Duchess of Windsor-style & wit
5.  Old Emerald & Diamond Drawers May, Queen Mary of Great Britian-the most devoted royal to the Monarchy and for her taste in jewels
6.  Miechen, Marie Grand Duchess Vladimir of Russia-wit, style and ambition
7.  Bertie, Edward VII of Great Britian-very underated King.  The world would be very different if he had lived to 1920
8.  Fat Mary, Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck-my kind of gal with great taste & style in jewelry and she gave us Old Diamond & Emerald Drawers
9.  Leopold, Duke of Albany-intelligence!  Would have made a great King or Prime Minster
10. Victoria, Marchioness Milford Haven-becuase of her pure common sense and intelligence.

QEII is not on my list because she is in a class all her own.

Iberian Royal Families / The Spanish branch of the Orléans family

The Montpensier family name keeps coming up on quite a few threads.

Who are these people?

They seem to have married into as many familes as the Coburgs did.

Prince Alexander is a dear, dear, friend of mine and I have always disagreed with him, respectfully, when it comes to who should be head of his house.

Other than being the Camilla Parker Bowles of her day, does anyone have any information on this royal mistress and later wife of King Carol II.

What was her hold over Carol II?
