Does anyone know if there were any Jewish members of the Russian nobility?

I look forward to hearing from you in this regard.

I was wondering if anyone could place the origin of the style of dress/ headwear/cape  in this photo.  I thought perhaps it is Romanian? All I know is that it is a picture of a painting early 20th century (although it does look a lot older to be sure).

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,

Russian Noble Families / Prince Baronovsky
« on: February 01, 2010, 06:08:59 AM »
I am wondering if anyone has any information on Prince Baronovsky who I believe was on of an old Russian noble family, but survived the Revolution and went on to be an architecturael advisor (and devotee of Russian culture) to Stalin.
Can anyone add to my rather scant file on Baronovsky?
Many thanks in advance,

Research Russian Roots / Does anyone know what this means?

I have unsuccessfully used an onlinea translator for the below photo caption.  I am hoping to have more luck here.
Can anyone tell me what "bor.vik.kovrigin' means?  It is written in russian, so this is my anglicised version (sorry, I don't have cyrillic keyboard).  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Other Palaces / Imperial Estates in Perm

Good morning!
Were there any imperial estates in Perm in the Ural Mountains at the end of the 20th century?
Any help would be greatly appreciated (as always).

Their World and Culture / Help! A.G Borischenko - photographer?
« on: November 07, 2009, 06:56:44 PM »
I am just wondering if anyone has come across a gentleman by the name of A.G Borichenko (or a similar spelling)?  He was possibly a photographer, maybe even an actor...  Under his name is written what looks like the word that looks like 'Karmenb' and the date 1913.
I am assuming (possibly incorrectly) that this translates to 'Kagmin' in english ... although I am not sure what it means as I don't speak Russian from reading through previous posts, I am assuming he is Ukranian.
Can anyone help please?
Many thanks in advance,
