Rasputin / Reasons for canonization?
« on: May 17, 2006, 08:52:29 AM »
Hi everyone!
I've been thinking a bit about this canonization-of-Rasputin-issue that some within the Russian-Orthodox church is persuing. (Which I personally find quite crazy.)

Can anyone please give further details on:

1. How common is this view? Is any person of higher rank within the church actively stressing the question right now?

2. Which are the main reasons for a canonization? Is it on basis of that forge-last letter that G.E is said to have written, or is it on basis of his "healing" powers? Or something else?

3. To be a martyr and to be canonized - is this viewd as being the same thing within the R-O church? I.E to be canonized - are you automatically viewd as a martyr?

I might very well prove my ignorance here, all of you are possibly aquainted with this book, but if someone particulary feel for a very good insight in the Romanovian Russia, I can only recommend the following book by Henri Troyat: Daily life in Russia under the last tsar.

In original language, i.e French, La Vie Quotidienne en Russie au temps du dernier tsar. Originally it is written in the late 50's, but it still feels very 'contemporary'. I found it in London some years ago, so it is still in print.

I made a search at the forum to see if anyone had commented or read this great book, but the search came back with noting, so I thougt I'd just tell you.  :)

Imperial Claimants Post Here / Just a question on DNA...
« on: August 25, 2005, 02:29:06 PM »
Hi everyone in here!
Just a question to you who believe in AA. I'm sorry if you have all discussed this to dying days, but hasn't DNA finally proved that she was all a fraud? Sorry again if I hereby reveal my ignorance in the subject.

I am not sure wether this is the right place at this board to ask following question, but I figured it would be best anyhow.

-When N&A held audiences, what were the general rules for the visitors towards them? It must have been very different depending on rank, but were there any rules in general that you had to obey? (For example, no touching, no turning of your back to the emperor etc?)

-Wich kind of people were granted audiences? Did the 'Security' have any saying in theese matters?

-What was the general procedure to be granted an audience for someone not familiar to the IF?

Thanks, you guys.  8)

Hi everyone!
Wow, was I impressed when I found this site, or what.

That's some months ago now, but still I thougt I'd better introduce myself "properly".

Once I was a subscriber to the APTM newsletter, but then I quit for some reason. Now I'm back where I belong.  8)

Rasputin / Gregory Yefimovich visiting students?
« on: June 06, 2005, 02:47:31 PM »
Once again I can't remember where I have read the following - that Gregory Yefimovich at some occasions between 1905 and 1910 went to the St.Petersburgs theological seminar to meet with students to talk to them. (Of course not after having the fallout with the Church.)
Is this even slightly possible?

A few years ago I saw this absolutely marvelous film in Stockholm. In Russian it is called "Skaska o Sibire". Does anyone know if it is for sale anywhere? I have checked Amazon and such places, but I haven't found it! :-[
If anyone have some information to share, I would be immensely grateful.

Rasputin / Rasputin coin?
« on: April 30, 2005, 10:24:15 AM »
Hi again!
When surfing around the net in hunt for sites on Rasputin some years ago, I came across a picture of a coin with Rasputin on it. I downloaded the picture, but now I can't recollect from where. I have a faint memory that it was in connetion with a site on Maria.

Anyhow, I have a copy of the picture in my computer. It says "G.E Rasputin-Novyj, 1869-1916" and depicts Rasputins profile. Does anyone know anything else about this??

Rasputin / Stabbing of Rasputin in 1914
« on: April 30, 2005, 05:40:19 AM »
Hi everyone!
I am a Newbie on this forum, but has been fascinated by the Romanovs and Gregory Efimovich for the last 15 years. I have bought an read heaps of books. Some really good - but a frightful lot of terrible junk. And people still belive it! Good to find this forum!!!

Anyhow - Gregory Efimovich was stabbed in 1914 in his homevillage. I have read a cuple of versions on who did it - one that it was carried out by one of his followers. Another that Illidor had it done. Any other information on this?

I have also read (somewere) that it occured when G.E was on his way to answer a telegram sent from Tsarskoe Selo. Does anyone of you have any more specific knowledge on the happenings around this deed?
