Strauss composed  two pieces: Festmarsch op. 452 ( march for Ferdinand) and Hochzeitsreigen op. 453 (waltz for Maria Luisa). Here are the cover and the title page of the original Hochzeitsreigen.

Here's the portrait of Eudoxia in better quality - link. The artist is Nikola Mihaylov. I found the image on Facebook in the profile of a man with amazing collection of photos. I couldn't go through all of it (because it's huge!), but I'm posting the link if you are interested + some highlights:

Are there any painted portraits of the two sisters?

I couldn't find anything on the web but this small image. It's Eudoxia I think.

There are some plans of Vrana that can be found on the official site of the palace:

Is it confirmed that the photo was taken circa 1926?

Well, the description of the photo says so. :-)

Quote

Perhaps it's my browser.
I just remembered that I'm using addblockers :-).

Boris and Giovanna married in 1929 so presumably they knew one another for quite a long time beforehand. His mother was a Bourbon-Parma, so was he perhaps related to Giovanna?

Ann
According to Stephane Groueff, Boris and Giovanna first met in September 1927. That picture is from Boris' first trip abroad as tsar \1926\.

Some interesting pictures. Unfortunately, each time I clicked on one, I not only got the picture but some others  showing bodybuilders with captions such as 'Want to increase your muscle mass?'!!!
Strange. I'm using 2 pcs and on neither I see such stuff. Next time I'll go with the good old Tinypic. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Was the picture in the gondola taken around the time of Boris and Giovanna's wedding?

Ann
It's from 1926.

From a documentary about Ferdinand:

They said something interesting about Ferdinand's father, August of Saxe-Coburg and Gotta. Until his death Ferdinand forbade anyone to even mention his father, because he was ashamed that August has spent the last days \years?\ of his life in a psychiatry. I couldn't find more info on that subject online \about August\. Could it be true?

And these are from Maria Luisa's short biography that I bought today.

Maria Luisa with her parents, Vienna, 1870

1895

In the uniform of her second cavalry regiment, 1893

With Ferdinand and princess Clementine at the Ebenthal palace, 1894

I also suspected that. Glad we could clear that. The handwriting though looks a lot like the one on the Wikipedia picture, I guess it was what misled me.
