News Links / Re: Osama bin Laden killed by U.S. forces
« on: May 03, 2011, 04:40:23 AM »
There are new terrorist organizations that operate alone without the blessings of Osama. We, each nation, must be on vigilance. It you go to "The Obama Diary" and search down the topics, it will show a small team watching it in live time. This site is wonderful because it is a large picture format of everything that happens that the newspapers never talk about
Also, at White House .org in press conferences there are some reports  from high officials discussing how Obama came to the decision to give the go ahead last Friday.

He then went to Alabama, on to the Shuttle meeting with Gabbie Gilfords( AZ rep shot in the head)  and her husband who is Commander of this mission. His identical twin brother is on the Space Station and I am looking forward to seeing them together. After President Obama went there he gave a graduation speech at Dade County.

Then  he attended the Correspondants Yearly dinner where The President talked. His speech was hilarious followed  by Seth from Saturday Night Live. Trump was there and did he get roasted. All this time he had already given the go ahead to take out Osama.  He is one cool guy. Seth in his speech talked about how everyone has quit searching for Osama and he was on C-span everyday at 4 o'clock.  They showed Obama, Gates (SOD) and the head of the CIA. They were all laughing because they knew what was going down whereas not another individual had any idea. .

At White House. org.........press conferences......they watched live time of the operation and removal of the target body(Osama) Watching all of the security team were very focused. Obama was looking at the screen with lazer eyes and SOD Hillary Clinton looked like she wanted to cover her eyes.  You can see all of those pictures of the security team at "The Obama Diary"

I am in America and stayed up all night for the Royal Wedding. I think it was perfect. I loved the Countess of Cambridge elegant laced top and sleeves with the solid formed fitted bodice and the lovely folds of the skirt and train. Just so elegant and classic, a timeless piece.  I also like the crown which was given to the Queen on her 16th Birthday. Did Queen Elizabeth ever wear it? I think she made a appropriate choice. She has plenty of time to wear others.  I've never seen it before. It was understated and I had to look for it with the lovel veil. What was the fabric of the veil?  Beautiful bride. The Count of Cambride look dashing in that Red Irish Guard uniform. I love the addition of the red. Harry is so handsome and I was tickled when he rode in the carriage with the little maids of honor. He was talking to them, smiling and making it fun for them waving at the people..

Now I  am staying awake to watch the Endeavor liftoff with Commander Kelly. Gabbie will be there but don't know if anyone will see her. She has never had a photo taken of her except with her hand holding C. Kelly's.  I cant wait to see pictures of Commander Kelly with his twin brother who is on the Space Station. Presidet Obama, Michelle, Sasha, Malia and Grandmother Robinson are going to be there. First stop is Alabama to revieve the damage from the Tonadoes and speak with the Gov. and FEMA.

Prince William and Kate are a lovely couple. She is very beautiful and will make an exquisite bride. I liked the silver coin in color. It is the nicest I've seen.

Thank you Lucien for keeping us up to date. Will the ceremony be seen internationally on television like Charles and Diana wedding was?

These are wonderful pictures. Thank you. The Count and Countess are a very handsome and beautiful couple. The baby pictures are so sweet.

The picture of Alexis Sumarokov is scary. He looks like he is a prisoner, expercially considering that year.

Thank you Lucien for following this history set in motion. A world that will be changed forever. It amazes me how the desire  of freedom flows through the veins of people who have been ruled with an iron hand. I am not as brave is these people but I have not suffered as they have either. The courage of all the youth is amazing that they would fight to the death for the taste of  freedom    We must never take for granted the life we are blessed to live.  I wish them victory and the ability to form governments of their choosing.

Lucien your post are great. I haven't been able to keep up with the ME today so I appreciate all your work.  One thing I don't know how to  link. There has been a request to Egypt from Iran to  allow two ships to pass though the Suez Canal.  Later, I read the request was later withdrawn without an explanation. Maybe there will be more on it tomorrow.

Also, Bahrain is the home base of the US Naval Force Central Command and Naval 5th Force.  They have been following all the activity and brainstorming where to send the fleet if Bahrain falls into anti US hands.

Alexandra Feodorovna / Re: Fotos of Alexandra's pregnancies?
« on: February 16, 2011, 11:21:33 PM »
This is regarding a so called false pregnancy mentioned in previous threads.

The cause of this is a Hydatidiform Mole:

Hydatidiform mole is a pregnancy/conceptus in which the placenta contains grapelike vesicles that are usually visible with the naked eye. The vesicles arise by distention of the chorionic villi by fluid. When inspected in the microscope, hyperplasia of the trophoblastic tissue is noted. If left untreated, a hydatidiform mole will almost always end as a spontaneous abortion

The uterus of the woman will enlarge to the physical looks of a 4 or 5 month pregnancy.

For the many references just google the name hydatidiform mole.

Lucien, thank you for starting this post and your new additions. . It's a great place to keep our fingers on the situations as they arise.

My fear is these other countries might not have a protector like the Egyptian army when things get rough. I am afraid that it will be like Iran protest after the elections. But you say that Iranians are getting braver again. I need to pay attention to see the whole picture.

Al Jazeera English is a good internet site for the Middle East news a lot ofl the info our media doesn't.

Robert Gibbs when answering a question about Mubarack leaving said, he needs to be gone yesterday.
In total there were 38 phonecalls.

Christine Amorpour was speaking with then new VP Omar Suleiman who said this is going to be fine. She asked well what about all those protesters? He raised his hand as if shaking it all off and said "Who? Them? They don't mean anything. They are hooligans, foreigners just causing trouble, they don't count?

Field Marshal Mohammed Hussein Tantawi was on the phone with Gates at least 6 times. The military counsel told the protesters that they were in continuous meetings. The Field Marshal in his last call said something like Will the US stand behind Egypt if we do this? Gates responded  emphatically that we would. I believe that this was about the military coup. The military spread the word that day that Mubarack was stepping down and then the bombshell. Mubarack speaks arrogantly and doesn't mention anything specifically. The army was stunned. Some believe that his son prepared that speech. That's what is took and it was over. They flew him to his villa on the Red Sea.

So there it is in bits and pieces.  I pray that Egypt can go through this transition smoothly and over the bumps. The thing that really makes me smile is when they all say. "I am no longer afraid. I am a proud Egyption." Amazing.

Then Mubarak had the internet and facebook shut down. There was a small company in the US that configured something to get them all back on line.  During this time the Tunisians were in contact with the Egyptian activists telling them to us lemon, garlic for the tear gas. Us milk or pop to wash out their eyes. Cut up plastic and cardboard and cover their bodies to protect from the rubber bullets.

The initial turnout were middle upper class youth who had access to computers but as it grew they would say things like, "I can't afford to buy stuff for my family" and other things that all Egyptians could identify with. Then they called on strikes. etc.

In America, Obama called Muback and told him he needed to prepare his country for change. If you have ever seen a picture of Mubarak and Obama together you can see the eliteness and the fingerpointing of the elder to the new young punk. He also called  the neighboring countries leaders. I don't know exactly why  the former ambassador was sent to Egypt. It is probably a Clinton connection but he blew the whole thing apart and spoke in Munich.  Frank Wisner, told the conference via videolink that Mubarak must remain in office, despite protesters' call for his resignation. Clinton followed up about the needs for the transition. When Obama heard this he blew a gasket and sent John Kerry onto the Sunday talk shows to say that  U.S. officials emphasized that Wisner was speaking for himself, as an expert on the region, and not for the Obama administration.

President Obama called Mubarack again.  Mubarack said he was doing what he thought was right and for Obama to call him back in 3-4 days and he will see the Mubarack was right.

History of Revolution:

I have watched this revolution from day 1.  What is interesting is that the young activists in pan- arab countries have been planning this for about 5 years. It has been studied from all angles. The Google exec came in later who put up the facebook " We Are All Khaled Said."

Khaled was a young business owner who posted a YouTube of MuBarack police  thugs in possession of marijuana. Several plainclothesmen went to his place of business and pulled him out and brutally stomped him to death in front of witnesses and lied to the family about what really happened.. On the facebook there were pictures of Khaled smiling and then cell phone pictures of him in the morgue almost without a face.

Egypt has one of the highest users of Facebook in the Middle East.....it is in the millions. Within a week 130,000 users had signed up until 473,000 right before the revolution. Then Tunisia happened. The combination of occurrences happened at this particular time in Egypt.  The anonymous activists asked how many would form a protest on a certain day. He was expecting maybe 50.000 but was surprised when 100,000 Egyptians signed up and it began.

The Muslin Brotherhood stayed out of the clashes until the day intense fighting lasted for 14 hours. It was then they stepped in and organized it with groups at the front. If you are injured go to the back and next in line step up. Others were assigned building blockades. Egyptian business men donated blankets and tents as so on. A very important factor was the army who did not involve themselves until the finally aimed their guns up in the air and onto the ground. Then Mubarck's police left. The police also sent in whole busloads of young men for pay. Some large companies told their workers to join the police and they would be receive their pay. At the end of that day as the young police fled they were seen pulling off their uniforms and disappearing.  (page 1)

Oh my dear Griffh, I am so sorry all this marvelous creation that you've put your heart and soul into is gone. My heart hurts.

On the otherhand what a wonderful journey you are on now. I've always said you needed to write a book and am so thrilled that the process is happening. I also enjoyed when you wrote about all the womens' clothes from different eras.    Most of all I do hope that some day you will write a biography. Goodness, I am planning out your life here. LOL

You do what you need  to do to complete your project and we'll be waiting here for you when the opportunity arises to share and read your book.

I'll never forget your dreams about Alexandra. She must be very close to you.

Love,
barb

You are quite correct, grandduchessella. I did read the entire thread with the discussion of GD Ella. Having accidently bypassing the link, my aim was to post a picture of her. I had a dreadfully difficult time posting the comments.  So sorry for all the repetition. You all have such lovely discussions that it might be best if I just read and be cautious with my posting.

Regards,
barb (Varvara)

Regarding the image of the  ball in post #29, I can't give you the date, but if you will look to the far right first row of the picture, I believe that is Prince Vladimir Paley son of  Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich of Russia, the youngest child of Emperor Alexander II, and his father's mistress, Olga Valerianovna and later wife.

His mother wrote a memoir which is actually on this site in which she states that Vladimir was going to a ball and I believe it was the first one he ever attended. I hope this is helpful.
