Yurovsky claimed the two bodies were buried "near" the mass grave.

No one has found the remains of a Grand Duchess and Alexis.

So,  my question has been:  Why would Yurovsky tell the truth about the mass grave which held nine bodies and not tell the truth about the two missing bodies?

AGRBear

PROVE that he did not tell the truth about the two missing bodies.

Oh --- My lack of G#d!
I agree with the FA!

Brilliant!

I wonder if these posts will also go 'wandering off' too.

I think AA said she gave birth in December 1918 because this was when she actually had a miscarriage herself in her real life as FS. She was not a particularly educated person and she might have believed that if the doctors could tell she was not a virgin, they could also tell from a physical examination exactly when she had been pregnant. But that's just one theory. Another theory is that she simply got her dates mixed up and miscalculated the length of time needed for a pregnancy.

What strikes me about AA's story is how poorly it all hangs together. This is exactly what you would expect from someone who was emotionally unstable, confused and generally ignorant about the circumstances surrounding the IF in Ekaterinburg. She was making up a story from whole cloth but she did not have the intellectual equipment or the resources to make it a convincing story.

This seems logical to me (although I must admit that I still prefer Super Anastasia Spider Godzirah!)

AHA!
At long last the angry bears logic is blindingly clear!
AA/AN/Anastasia Manahan/Ms Unknown was both a space alien and an otherworldly creature inbued with magical and supernatural powers! She could counteract not only common logic and any sort of rational timeline confusion in her "adventures" but she could control Time/Space/Gravity/and all the generally known laws of Physics/Thermodynamics!
She could spontaniously create 'sympathetic guards' who help her excape, then "impregnate" her and conveniently die! In fact she could even generate her own "babies" without the actual participation of anyone else...

She could leap over tall buildings in a single bound! She had xray vision, superspider dna and and she breathed fire!
Even now she may be approaching Tokyo Harbor!

Beware Super Anastasia/Spider/Godzirah!!

As no one can convince me that this did NOT happen - IT MUST IN FACT BE TRUE!

Rasputin / Re: Was Rasputin Sane?

I think he was an alchoholic, but I really don't know if he was insane....
He may possibly have been addicted to wild and destructive behaviour - but that is not insanity.

Someone is suspended? The implication is that they might yet return...  so no waterworks required as yet  Agreb... :-X

I still am pursuaded that  AA was emotionally unstable BUT as far as her being 'non functional'  (could she hold down a job or pay taxes) ... well did she ever try or was there always someone there to take care of her ?

[PS: I have removed certain posts from this site NOT IN  AN ATTEMPT TO HIDE ANYTHING but in order to please LisaD and the FA...  :-/]

Having reread APT - I have to just this -- I DON'T see any "Liberal/Left wing bias...other than Figes is not in love with Autocracy!
In fact I think that the last THIRD of the book is very even handed in condemning the treatment by the Bolsheviki of so many in camps and gulags!  OF clearly is very negative in his reaction to the Soviet Government's abuse of Hoover's sincere efforts to supply food and medical needs...

SK did you miss the last 350 pages of the book?

Its ok  -SK-  you can belittle me if you wish -- I am not a scholar, just a cyclist.

A giant TALKING welshman in space no less! Brilliant!

Now, where do the witches lead by action Tedders through the Hollow Earth fit into this? (this theory was posted some time ago by Rskkiyah on another thread)
I especially like the giant space dog!

I'm not anyone's reborn space mother... but I am Spartacus!

If AA/Anastasia Manahan was clinically insane - could she have been held responsible for her behaviour?

What are the laws about this in Germany, or in America prior to her marriage to Manahan? I am sorry if this is an old and pointless question...

respectfully sent [rs]

News Links / Re: Worries of Anti-Semitism Spread in Russia
« on: January 14, 2006, 06:13:45 PM »
I am saddened that antisemitism is again a problem in  the Russian Federation... People tend to  turn on any minority when under stress.
There is no excuse for this - but I can understand it.

Sorry, catt.sydney,

If you had had your family starved almost to death for PC reasons, and had read Figes` shallow and shoddy  work, you would perhaps not be quite so quick to condemn my comments.

What he had to say was certainly plausible, and convinced a lot of people who are largely ignorant of pre-1917 Russia.   Other people were a little closer to the reality. Some of them had their families, or half their familes wiped out by Lenin`s raging hatred and intolerance. They then had to sit around as Western Academics praised the "interseting experiment".

If you don`t know how interedting it was, then you should    read pages 1-100 of "Gulag Archipelago", if your mind and stomach are strong enough to take it.

This cruelty had nothing to do with the character of the Russian people. Lenin despised Russia.  To those who had first-hand knowledge of what Bolshevism really meant to the Russian people, Figes is the one who is glib. And so are all the people who lavished praise on him. Including  you.

In case you hadn`t noticed, some academic instituions have higher standards than others, and produce  better work.

Happy New Year,  StephenKerensky

HEY!
That's just childish and nasty SK ...
Look I'm sorry that your family suffered - I don't doubt that everybody here is too ...HOWEVER your other comments are UNCALLED FOR! SO YOU TWO DISAGREE ABOUT THIS BOOK! ENOUGH! ... I happen to think APT is a very insiteful text ...

The Myth and Legends of Survivors / Re: AA and the Russian Language
« on: January 14, 2006, 09:38:10 AM »
Please folks...STOP THIS!
Look, I speak Russian with a fairly good accent [or so I am told] however I am just learning this language so I cannot do much but understand bits of other peoples overheard conversations...
Sadly we still only have hearsay to go on.  I am not a philologist and I never heard Anastasia Manahan speak, so I am just trying to find the facts...Is  that is all right .... or am I NOT being polite enough?

Grand Duke Paul, :-X

Please do realize that Penny Wilson was quite able to compose posts that were as Insightful and as Infantile as you may imagine. I witnessed a number of these post when I just 'read' this site (as a non poster) and many are gone. I don't know if she removed them or the FA did, and I don't care
Sadly - although she did love to remind everyone again and again that she was a Published Writer she really seems to have failed to develop a very tough skin.

g.d.p. --- hmmm?
      p.w. --- hmmmm?

Ah well.

Really - this all comes down to a matter of opinion -  I see no similarity at all between Ms Unknown and Anastasia Nicholaevna, but that may just be me...
The fact that this has all turned into a debate over a person who is no longer welcome at this site [ask the FA] is .... just .... very very CURIOUS to me.... :o

How can it possibly be out of date? Some of the forensic tests were conducted in 1993-94. Forensic tests are just that, and they could be performed today and have the same conclusion. Just because the DNA test contradicted it does not mean it is invaluable.

Are you talking about the 'ear' test? While it was remarkably close and strikingly similar - it was not exact ...
The other tests were rather subjective.  Statements such as "I recognized her" and "she knew so much stuff" is not  really forensicly sound material. As for the issue of scars that is also still debated. As far as I know - we don't have accurate medical records of Anastasia Nicholevna...
Do you have them Caleb? ;)
