The Tudors / Re: Henry VII
« on: April 23, 2020, 07:37:00 AM »
I just finished reading Jasper Tudor by Terry Breverton. I highly recomend it, it brings light about Jasper loyalty and involvment in Lancanstrian cause as well as his mentorship to the future Henry VII, his nephew. Uncle Jasper was a role model fot the future King.

Imperial Russian History / Legend of werewolves
« on: January 01, 2015, 03:16:17 PM »
Is it true that the Tsars Godfathered in Baptism the seventh male baby to protect him turning into a werewolf? And that this tradition began with Catherine the Great?
I live in Argentina, in my country Presidents Godfather a seventh child and it is said that the first family that requested it in 1907, was a Russian family that were afraid of the werewolf legend. I haven' t found historical sources of the existence of that legend so I'd need your help. Thank you.

I never heard it. Maybe it was a distorted report about her claim to eat apples at the beginning of her first pregnancy.

Sir William Butts was a physician. He was a Norfolk gentleman that studied at Cambridge.  Both he and her wife Margaret Bacon were members of Princess Mary's Household circa 1525. When Anne Boleyn and her father got the sweat sickness he attended them.
And of course he attended Henry VIII a lot, the King highly appreciated him.
He died in 1545.
