Having Fun! / Re: Favorite Disney Movie

I don't have a favourite really. I have a few that will forever have a place in my heart, like Atlantis: the Lost Empire, Moana, Treasure Planet and Lilo and Stitch. I also have four nieces, who are now at the age where they are obsessed with Frozen, Tangled and Cinderella, so I also watch those movies on a regular basis.

I purchased this Halloween cat that makes hissing sounds when you push the button.  The first time I tried it, Tatiana came running into the room.  I guess she thought there was another cat in the apartment!

That's like OJ every time he hears a cat making noise. He always assumes that there is a cat talking to him and responds. It's absolutely hilarious that he has full-blown conversations with cats that can't hear him.

My mom told me a story about a dog her uncle had when she was a kid. He had this massive German Shepherd mix named Bosco who took it upon himself to be the protector of the friendly cats in the neighbourhood. There was a few tomcats in the area that would pick on the others. If Bosco was outside, the cats that were being picked on would run between his legs and stare the bully cats down, saying "I dare you to come closer" while Bosco would bare his teeth and growl (even though he would never hurt a fly). I always laugh when I hear her telling the story.

Your dogs look like they're having fun.

Yeah, Phoenix turned 10 in Jan, but she is still really playful and full of energy. I adopted Shadow (German Shepherd and Husky mix) a month ago, so she’s a little hesitant to play with the boys, but is getting along really well with OJ (my cat) and Phoenix.

Phoenix, who is now 10, played a bit too rough with some pups at the park a few days ago and has a nasty wound on her neck now, but she's on antibiotics now, so she'll be okay in a bit.

Other than her, everyone is doing well.

Yeah, that is pretty much the same story as here in Southern Alberta, but instead of freezing rain, we're getting more snow. I think we're getting better weather next week, but you can never tell with Canada. *proceeds to shake a fist at the sky.*

Sorry for being away for some time. Here are some new photos of some of my babies:

Alex, Juno and Slingshot (L-R)

Unfortunately we lost Cocoa (Alex and Slingshot's mom) earlier this spring, but I see her every day in her boys. She was almost twenty five, so we had her for a good long while and she was a sweetheart until her dying day.

Forgot to add this:

Phoenix again

Thanks, Tim!

O.J. is adorable, CeticTomboy!
Lovely new picture of Charlotte, Amanda.

O.J. is a beautiful cat.  He's an orange tabby, right?

Thanks guys! He's quite the little pistol, but he's so calm and patient, too. I've only had him for a few months, but as you can see from the first pic, he gets along super well with the dogs and and he, Phoenix and Max are inseparable.

And yes Tim, he is an orange tabby.

I lost Aussie earlier this year, so I went and adopted my new baby, OJ. That is the name he had when I adopted him, so that is the name he's stuck with. You can use your imagination as for what the initials stand for, but I like to think they stand for Orange Juice, as he is full of energy and an orange tabby.

Here he is with Phoenix:

I'm just happy that there wasn't a greater loss of life. Firefighters are still in the area, but everything seems to be under control. Both my dad and uncle were supposed to be up at the Syncrude camp, but my dad was sent to the Philippines and my uncle returned to Calgary the day after the town began evacuations. Some of my friends and their families went back last week, and the remainder are going this weekend.

Canada is a resilient country, and the people are even more so. We're survivors and we'll pull through this, just like every other disaster we've had to face. I just hope we don't have another disaster like this again.

Hey everyone,

so I'm sure by now you have most likely heard about the wildfires that are tearing through the northern portion of Alberta, Canada. The entire town of Fort McMurray (or Fort Mac to us Albertans), population 88 000 has been evacuated and nearby towns to the north and south, including the oil fields have been as well. Yesterday, we had our first human fatalities from the fire, when we lost the daughter and nephew of the deputy fire chief while they were evacuating the area. I am lucky to not have family that lives in the area (but do have an uncle who was working in the oil camp north of the town), but do know people from the town and have coworkers with family there.

Please keep these families in your prayers as this is one of the worst natural disasters in our nation's history. You can find out more here: http://globalnews.ca/tag/fort-mcmurray-wildfire/

I love Olga's toothy smile in that last pic. It's always wonderful to see the IF happy, relaxed and seemingly carefree.

I'm sorry to update the topic this way, but I have some bad news about my family. We've had a rough weekend having lost three of our beloved animals over the past 4 days. On Thursday night, my mom's elderly horse, Apollo passed away at the ripe old age of 32 after battling kidney problems for almost two years. Friday night we had to make the heart-wrenching decision to put my sister's horse, Apache down after she suffered a major injury to her left hind leg that would leave her either paralyzed or at risk for a very serious infection that could spread very quickly. And this morning, I lost my first pet, my 21 year old goat, Suede due to old age. I miss them all terribly, but they aren't suffering anymore.

RIP Apollo (April 9, 1983- September 17,2015), Apache (May 13, 2001- September 18, 2015), and Suede (August 12, 1994- September 20, 2015).
