I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, for a number of reasons (safety, preservation, legal, etc.), but, unless things have changed in the past two and a half years, it's relatively easy to climb through one of the windows facing the street.  In addition, there is (or at least there was) a doorway at one end of the station, with no door, which allows access to a good number of rooms, although not the main rooms, of the station.

RomanovRussia.com is owned / run by a fellow named Dmitry Alexandrov in Chicago.  I have met him personally several times and have bought from him for more than ten years.  Everything has always been as described.

It's a strap holding his sword.

By the way, the negative is reversed in this photo, as both the lyadunka and sword are on the wrong side.

No current plans for another trip, but I'm sure I could be talked into it without too much trouble.  My current frequency of visits wouldn't call for another trip to Petersburg until 2012.  I seem to go every 7 years -- 1991, 1998 and 2005.
