Books about the Romanovs and Imperial Russia / Re: Upcoming Books 2014
« on: October 05, 2014, 10:14:32 AM »
Hi,

Beautiful picture of The Grand Duchess on the cover!

Young & lovely, regal & imperial - and bejeweled - this should attract attention from bookbuyers...
I wish Galina and Tatiana much success with this latest book.

Hi,

Great news about another child for the Cambridges.

Now of course, all the speculation will begin about the gender and name(s) for the baby;  so let me be the first to predict:
A girl named Charlotte.

I would be satisfied also with Eleanor or Philippa - let's get some new names in the Royal Family;  although these are older ones used in past centuries - but let's revitalize them!!

Hi,

Apparently Houdini was in Russia and did entertain the Imperial Family.
A relative of mine saw him there and told me that when a Houdini movie came out in the '50's.

Whether the peeing with Rasputin occured, I can't say - but I wouldn't be surprised!!!  Makes for a good scene in a movie though...

Hi,

There's a huge book store in the Singer Building on the Nevsky Prospect.  It has 2 storeys and many royalty books;  if anyone has that book, they would.

Hi,

This was a surprising, and really shocking, news story to me.
Why Norway?  What's Norway done to piss off anyone to warrant terrorist threats or attacks?

Hi Maria,

I'm not so sure I'd be smiling either if 50 or more photographers were popping flash bulbs in my face.
The poor kid may just be overwhelmed and confused.

I agree though that it would be great to see him smiling!

Hi,

The Organizing Committe of the RD Weekend at Ticehurst has asked me to state that the new book "Apapa" was launched by the authors and book seller only;  and not with the sponsorship or accord or backing of the Committee...

Therefore my part of the statement "at the RD Weekend at Ticehurst, England" may be misleading...
I hope this clears up any misunderstanding(s) about this book.

Hi,

Clarification please:

Does September 10, 2015 equal Victoria's reign or overtake it by a day???

Hi,

Ann:
Boris did tour the USA in the early 1900's, so maybe he again adopted (adapted) a Mohican look!!  He did visit a couple of Indian reserves....

Mandie:
Yes, the book about Maria Pavlovna, already in Russian, is to be published by Eurohistory in English, sometime in the Autumn, I believe.
I have spoken to Arturo Beeche and Galina Korneva, who wrote the book, about it.
Galina and her sister, Tatiana, also wrote the "Russia and Europe" book, which Arturo had translated and published last year.  This is another good reference book to have.

Hello,

My goodness, such blatant negativity about a book focusing only on personalities and not politics or war…

Hi Lindelle,

William and Kate got married in April 2011;  so it would be spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern...

Hello,

A major royalty book was just launched at RDQ Weekend at Ticehurst, England:

"APAPA" - King Christian IX of Denmark and His Descendants....
This 302 page book spotlights the King and his wife, Queen Louise, and all their family up to the present day.  It was written by Coryne Hall and Arturo Beeche and is full of pictures of everyone.  Many new and unseen photographs from their archives.

As you probably know, Christian IX was 'The Father-in-law of Europe' - his children and their children marrying into the major monarchies of Europe.
Therefore, this book is a major reference for all of us into the royal families, of which we're interested!!

It can be purchased through Eurohistory.com or Hoogstrattens from The Hague, Netherlands.
ISBN: 978-0-9854603-4-1
