Wasn't it said that Anastasia, if she grew up, would have because a great beauty?

Anyone got any new Maria photos to post?
I believe it was, one of Alix's ladies who quoted that, but I can't quite remember who. I think Anastasia would have had a more...striking beauty to her sister's classic looks.

Does anyone have a full for this?

What a beautiful, clearer version of that photo! Thank you for posting.

Maria, in my opinion, is the of the most beautiful of the four girls, just in my own opinion. Tatiana had a very regal type of beauty and unique looks. Olga was beautiful too. Anastasia, well, I agree with Ally on that one!

We'll never know how the fully developed Anastasia would have looked but I think she was developing into a bit of a stunner right at the point that her life was snatched away from her. Her sisters were already timeless beauties and I think the Imp was carving out her own niche, sadly never fully realized.
Agree with this completely...I think Anastasia would have had a more modern, unique beauty about her when she was older and it is so tragic that we will never know.

Jen, I'm in love with that picture and your version is adorable! Olga is a popular subject today; I also coloured her, but a 1910 photograph:

Trawling google, I found this:,708658
A pssibility? 'Embry' sounds more like a surname than a first name and it's not exactly a common combination of names. Also, the dates would match but I can't quite figure out how she'd come into contact with an item worn by an Imperial child (poss.), even if she had a high place in British society. Did the Bolsheviks put any of the IF's clothing on the black European market?

The fact that it is dated 1900 exactly makes me think that if it did belong to a Romanov baby it would be Anastasia and as it is French (and we all know of the Imperial love of French culture) it is highly likely that the Imperial children had a dress similar, if not this exact one. The Met says it was a gift from a Mrs Embry Hartman? Do we know anything about her, a connection to the family etc.?

I'd say that's Anna too, Edubs. Well, Anastasia is known for her inappropriate actions! RomanovMartyrs, I'd seen a few of those, but in worse quality, so thank you for those!

My gimp tutorial:

1. Make sure that the picture is in RGB mode. You can check this by going to 'Image' 'mode' and then 'RGB.'
2. Click on the little lasso tool. This will let you select the part of the picture you want to be in a certain colour. I tend to use 'feather edges' too but only at around 7.0.
3. Select the area you want to colour with the lasso. Remember to join the ends together at the end. Then go to 'colours' 'colourise' and it will turn blue with a little box at the top of your screen. Don't panic! You can adjust this. Drag the little slidey thing up and down depending on what colour you want the area to be.
4. Next adjust the saturation. For a hint, for skin tones I use 30 colour and 30 saturation. Don't adjust light and dark.
5. Have fun playing around. If you don't like how it turns out, there is always 'undo'.
6. Keep going until the picture has been completely coloured. I like to play around with levels, curves, contrasts, layers, textures and colour levels but that is a little complex. Message me if you would like to learn about those. Hope this helps and happy colouring!
