It looks like some sort of prank to me, too. But it also reminds me of that caught on tape euphoria of the soldiers when they reached the White sea during the first Balkan war \1, 2\. Forgetting for a moment that they are actually on a war. Anyway, in the book there's no info on the picture, it is not even relevant to the story as it's part of the chapter about the royal wedding.

Some pictures from the book "Passions and scandals in royal Bulgaria" by Peter Velichkov, which I read recently. \not great quality as usual \

A new photograph (at least for me) of Maria Louisa and Ferdinand at their engagement.

Maria Louisa at Euxinograd.

The actual photo of Ferdinand and Boris after the Orthodox baptism of the second. I've seen the lithography posted on the forums, but not the photo itself.

A really funny caricature of the baptism. I just love Ferdinand's portrayal in the upper right corner. :-)

This is Boris bathing at the Ohrid lake during the war, July 1917. Though the picture is not offensive, revealing or anything of that sort, he's not wearing clothes. You're warned.

And the last one is postcard special for the 25 year anniversary of Ferdinand on the throne. Very stylish.

There's some really cool contest at worth1000, mixing famous paintings with celebrity faces. Someone combined Maria Alexandrovna's famous portrait with Amanda Seyfried. I think that it looks so good that it deserves to be shared here. :-)

2 pictures from the Bulgarian edition of Marie's memoirs. It's written that the source is The National Library.

It appears that there's no much info about Franz Joseph of Battenberg, not to mention photographs. Anyway, here's a picture of him and prince Mirko of Montenegro.

Thanks for the wonderful picture. Such cuties.

These are popular pictures of Marie Louise and Eudoxia, but they are autographed. Found them again at some auction house.

Very Impressive. I am glad he is still popular in Bulgaria.

He isn't a royal celebrity, you know :-). He's part of our history, for good or bad.

Ok. This is the last part of my "collection". The first two are from the Serbo-Bulgarian war, source - Facebook:

From the Russian state archives:

And these are from here:

Ok, here we go again.

This image floats in the internet as portrait of Sultana Racho Petrova, mistress of Ferdinand I of Bulgaria \I even linked it in his thread, when explaining the living picture\. But after I compared it with the finds from  Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek \especially №4\, it's clearly Johanna.

This one from the ulsteinbild also looks good. \I don't have registration there, sorry.\

My favourite session as newly elected prince of Bulgaria, circa 1879 \from various sources including the British Royal Collection\:

Another one circa 1880:

Probably his most famous photoportrait, featured in schoolbooks /again from LostBulgaria/:

With one of the many cabinets \screenshot from a documentary video\:

And scans of two photos \with hyper resolution!!!\ from some bg online auction house:

Hope you liked these. I have a few more, I'll post them tomorrow when I find them :-)

Nice photo. You have a link to the archives in Sofia ?

This is the official website. But when you enter for search Батенберг \Battenberg\ in the first field of the green box to the right \search at the digital archives\ only documents pop up.
This is another big archive, The National Library at Sofia \again partially digitalized\, but the search interface is horrible and I couldn't find anything.

I guess the best way to find anything is to go on foot. Too bad I live in the dak province. :-(
