The Habsburgs / Emperor Leopold I , his wives and family
« on: September 17, 2006, 03:18:22 AM »
Dear Discussion Group,

I am searching for portaits showing Empress Claudia Felicitas (Felix). Any other information is welcome, too.

Claudia Felicitas was the daughter of Archduke Ferdinand of Tyrol and Anna of Medici. She was married to Emperor Leopold I. and gave birth to two daughters, Anna Maria Sophia and Maria Josepha. The archduchesses died in infancy.

Does anybody know more about Claudia's mother Anna? It seems to me that they were very close, because Claudia wanted to be buried next to her mother in the Dominikanerkirche, Vienna. Only the urn with her heart is in the Kaisergruft.
Because of her mother being a Medici, Claudia wasn't welcome on the Imperial Court of Vienna.

Hallo,

in fact I don't know much about the Emperors of Russia and their families. But yesterday I read in a book about the childhood of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria that Olga, Alexander II.'s sister, should marry Archduke Stephan, eldest son of Palatin Joseph of Hungary. As far as I know Alexander and Joseph were friends, maybe also because Alexander's aunt (?) Alexandra (1783-1801) was Joseph's first wife. In the end, Olga didn't marry Joseph, because Metternich was against it.

Does anybody have more information about Olga? I read that she was one of the most beautiful princesses of that time. Later she marriedKing  Karl von Württemberg who was definitely a homosexual.

Thanks in advance,

Marie

3) Marie Valérie (1896-1963)

5) Maria Johanna (1900-1976)
6) Johanna (1902-1964)

I know that she was a close friend of Marie Valérie, Archduchess of Austria.

... and I'd love to see pics of Aglaë and her family.

The Habsburgs / Archduke Ludwig Victor

Here are some photographs of Archduke Ludwig Victor (1842-1919). He was the youngest brother of Emperor Franz Joseph. In his family he was called Bubi or der kleine Ludwig (= little Ludwig).

I hope I can make you laugh ...  ;D

Dear discussion group,

I am searching for pictures of

Wilhelm Karl Florestan Gero Crescentius, Duke of Urach (1864-1928.)

his first wife
Amélie, Duchess in Bavaria (1865-1912)

his second wife
Wiltrud, Princess of Bavaria (1884-1975)

and his children by his first wife Amélie

Marie Gabrielle Carola Josepha Sophie Mathilde (1893-1908.)
Elisabeth Florestine Auguste Marie Luise (1894-1962)
Karola Hilda Elisabeth Maria (1896-1980)
Wilhelm Albert Karl Anton Paul Gero Maria (1897-1957)
Karl Gero Albrecht Joseph Wilhelm Anton Maria (1899-1981)
Margarethe Sophie Florestine Maria Josepha (1901-1975)
Albrecht Eberhard Karl Gero Maria (1903-1969)
Rupprecht Eberhard Wilhelm Gero Maria (1907-1969)
Mechthilde Marie Gabriele Florestine Sophie Devota (1912-2001)

Can anybody give me some information about the title of this branch of the Württemberg family? Was Wilhelm "Count", "Duke" or "Fürst" of Urach?
I know that his son Wilhelm Albert Karl renounced his rights and became "Graf (Count) von Württemberg".
A grandson of Wilhelm told me that his aunt Mechthilde (1912-2001) was "Fürstin von Urach" and "Gräfin von Württemberg". But Paul Theroff says that Wilhelm's daughters were "Princesses of Württemberg". I'm a bit confused about that.

Hallo,

I'm very interested in Queen Maria Sophia of Neaples, née Duchess in Bavaria and younger sister of Empress Elisabeth von Austria.
She was born on October 4th 1841 at Schloss Possenhofen / Starnberger See near Munich and died on January 19th 1925 in Munich (where exactly?). She was married to Francesco II. of Neaples - Two Sicilies.

I think most of the people here know about her time as last Queen of Neaples (1859/60) and the story of the child she gave birth to in Augsburg in 1862. But what about her life in later years? I know she lived in Paris, loved fox hunting in England, but what else?

And of course, pictures are always very very welcome. Does anybody have pics of Marie being an old woman? I once read that she had white hair...
