thanks for the plans. What is the name of the book they are from? And, where would Clarence House be on these plans?

There is a balcony outside the Queen's private rooms? I wonder if one can look up and see her sitting outside with the paper?

About the guest rooms, I assume they are simply a bed room with bath attached or do some guests have to share a bath?

Which palace was bombed as shown in the photo above?

Is there any way to enlarge that graphic?

It's very pretty. Do we know how big it is? Certainly a smaller palace. Any floor plans? All the photos I see are from only two places: the front steps or the same "audience room" (or whatever the proper name is for that room). I assume that the formal official areas are a small part of the layout and that most of the small palace is private and service?

Any photos or drawings of the proposed Whitehall Palace or Hyde Park Palace?

I think we've talked about this  before, but Cecilie lived at Schloss Cecilienhoff until the Russians got too close, then she went to Baden, correct? Did she have relatives there? Another castle or just an apartment? Was she financially comfortable until her death?

Were not the Kings of Saxony in theory head of the Saxon Lutheran Church after they converted to Catholicism? IF I recall, they appointed a commission to carry out this function. Of course, the Queen is only the titular Supreme Governor so nothing would really change.

Palaces in Moscow / Re: The Kremlin - general information
« on: September 20, 2008, 09:52:31 AM »
The Soviets were very clever building a fake Kremlin made of wood and disguising the real Kremlin during world war two. The fake Kremlin was bombed many times, the real Kremlin left largely untouched.

Huh? I have never heard this. Where did they build the fake one? How did they disguise the real one?

Viktoia Luise is interred at Hannover.

Why Hannover?

I do not know what the family  thinks about it.  I have not heard or read any commenets from them about it.  They seem to be squabbling about other issues now.

What are the Hohenzollerns squabbling about?

Thanks. This is very interesting. I suppose the Windsors do something similar today.

Their World and Culture / Moving House?
« on: July 14, 2008, 12:04:56 PM »
This question could apply to any royal or wealthy family that has multiple houses or palaces. Do they take everything with them when they move? I mean what if Nicholas was at the Alexander Palace and wanted a particular book? Would the libraries of the Alexander Palace, Peterhof, the Winter Palace, etc all have the same holdings? Would he have kept complete wardrobes at every palace? How much stuff follows the family around?

Palaces in Moscow / Russian Presidential Residences?
« on: July 14, 2008, 11:58:59 AM »
Do the President and Prime Minister of Russian currently use or live in any of the Imperial Palaces?

It's my understanding that when the revolution broke out basically no one rose up to support Karl. I've always found this odd. Why were there no groups supporting the monarchy?
