The Alexander Palace / Re: Alexander Palace used for Orphanage
« on: July 27, 2024, 05:01:08 AM »
Hello there,

I have just been re reading "Sovereign" The Lapse and Reign of Emperor Nicholas II, No 6 Edition, 2018, a Royal Russia Publication.

There is an interesting excerpt from:

"A Prisoner of the Reds - The Story of a British Officer captured in Siberia, by Francis McCullagh"

On page 69: First Column...

Francis discusses the little boy of 13 who assisted the cook.....Leonid ?Lyonka? Sednev.

"He was driven by Yurovsky just before the murder and taken away - then on July 17 the soldier Kouzma Ivanovich Letemin entered  the guard house opposite
Ippatievsky and went into the room occupied by Metvietev etc. He found in the room two soldiers and this little boy, whose presecne in that house astonished him etc. It goes on...then it says that Leonid was now living in Tsarskoe Selo which has been converted to an orphanage (Alexander Palace?)......where he is being carefully brought up as a Communist etc....

Any records of the orphanage and the children who were taken there to verify this?

Thank you so very much! This has indeed been very good information - you are so kind!
Apologies I have had a break for a few years - dealing with a pack of corsairs. lol.

I  do wonder about this subject as well. It seems there are many different layers to be worked out.

Not only in terms of what do the Russian People themselves want (and even getting true and clear voting that hasn't been tampered with), but also, its good to ask questions about why.

1. Why would having a constitutional monarchy be good for Russia and her peoples?

2. Then there are also the other aspects that at this point in time, go hand in hand with statesmanship, like how would the Russian Orthodoxy, Federal Security Service and the Foreign Intelligent Service react to such a different era being brought in. What sort of issues may be faced, and would they all work together to truly honour Russia and her peoples.

3. Would such a new era bring stability in terms of currency, trade, strengthen diplomatic relations and family relations throughout Europe or would it destabilise it.
Again what sort of issues may be faced.

4. The Romanov family still seem very divided on many issues, this is not a good thing. Remembering that saying: Together we stand, divided we fall.

5. One must never forget what happened to the Late Imperial Family. It shows just what can happen when circumstances and people are not happy and in alignment as a whole.

6. Absolute power brings absolute corruption. Be mindful of what this actually means.

Thank you Page :)

So lovely!

I have written to The Department of Immigration requesting more information.

So we will work backwards from Australia and go from there.

PS All the team that worked on the design of the torpedo submarine were marked with a special tattoo apparently, Dad had a tattoo on his forearm of a ships anchor.

Thank you all for your condolences, we all appreciate it very much.

The day before my father passed a golden kestrel came into my backyard, not a bird that is found here. Stayed for quite a hew hours.

Also not sure if this is connected but its worth a mention in relation to DNA:

Hi there,

I am going to need to double check everything. Facts not Fiction. And for that I am certainly going to need a whole lot of help.

For example if its true he was a marine engineer in Russia that did what he says then that will need to be validated somehow.
Can anyone help with this?

Regarding the school he says he went to - was he somehow getting mixed up with his Father Nicolai? My research has shown that that school was not operating after the Revolution, so either he didn't go there or the date of birth he gave the Australian Immigration was incorrect. He was a displaced refugee and had no papers.

Yes he did say he went to that particular school in Russia, however, according to Australian Immigration records and our Birth Certificates the official date of birth he gave was 10th September 1921.
Australia Immigration records show that he, his wife Anna and son Igor boarded a ship called The Protea in Naples Italy on 2nd May 1949, and arrived in Sydney on 6th June 1949.

Thank you Uncle Sasha for the photo and update.

I am saddened to report that my father Oleg Nicolaevich Usov passed away earlier this year on 4/1/2018 after a illness lasting a year and a half.
The doctors thought at time of diagnosis(stomach cancer) he would only last 3 months.
Dad was a fighter and he struggled on being determined to live to August 2018. Unfortunately he didn't make it.

I found out only at his funeral that he had been a marine engineer in Russia and was part of a special team that designed the first torpedo submarine.

More to follow later this week.

At this time one of his sons is gravely ill. And a few of us are also having some medical issues related to our genetics.

We are praying to Archangel Michael, whom Dad always mentioned was out families Patron Archangel.

Peace be with you all.

Every day we are alive is indeed a gift.

Kindest Regards,

Susannah Jane Usov

Aha! Eureka! I think I may have stumbled across something interesting.......

LEE, Robert (1793-1877)- The Last Days of Alexander, and the First Days of Nicholas, Emperors of Russia (London, 1854)

Here is the online link: https://archive.org/details/lastdaysalexand01leegoog

pages 26 discusses house at "Yoursoff"......,page 31, discusses what his plans are when he "decomissions himself"....

somewhere in the book is a section on Tsar Alexander 1st admonishing someone about a pregnant woman being mistreated.....hmmm

Hmm....is the name "Yoursoff" linked to the name "Usov"???.....is there a connection there ???.....its pretty out there I agree...but....I wonder if somehow this is the connection of the rare dna we carry....the time period is correct from what I have been informed about how far back we share a common ancestor....and yes I am aware of the research being carried out on the various family lines....interesting times we live in......!

Photos of maps with Dads journey during wartime years:(apologies they are so big but its hard to see the writing when its smaller).

Strelna - 1941-42, then to Narva 1942-43
Narva to Libau 1944-45 (crossing water)
Libau across the Baltic to Swene ?- ? (unreadable word looks like "monde")...Germany then Austria to Berlin/Dresden.
