I wonder if Mr. tammet had any scars around the ear area. Wasn't Alexei shot once, maybe twice at almost point blank range? If this didnt blow part of his head off (sorry for being graphic) it would surely have left a scar of some sort.

These symptoms are *not* known to happen as a direct result of the clotting factor deficiencies of haemophilia.

May be not as a direct result but high fever and , with that, delerium, would result due to the body's reaction to the inflamation that would follow a bleed into the joint.

How about Isabella Rosselini, stunningly beautiful yet with that particular gravitas. She would be a perfect Ella

Well, I am firmly ( or wobbly) in the " Mary Adelaide of Teck on a fat day" club. Being 5 feet 10 inches does, however, stretch the wobbly bits out a bit ::) And I have to say that i do scrub up well and can look quite fetching at times. Oh for a whale bone corset but if i wore one i would end up with a 20 inch waist and a neck measuring 3 feet across, ;D ;D ;D

Just spotted this thread. When i was a lot younger I used to spend my pocket money on Jean Plaidy books. Have you read the Catherine de Medici trilogy.... super. A bit off topic now but how about Anya Seton's "Katherine", made me fall in love with John of Gaunt.

My pleasure Belochka, and can i add that in a situation like this we would nowadays investigate the caus of the bleeding and run bloodtests including full blood levels, clotting times etc. and if these were deranged i.e. abnormal, further investigations may include detecting levels of clotting factors (particularly v111 and v1x) regards kim

J kendrick,I am a neonatal nurse of some 25 years standing and i have also posed this question to our lead paediatrician and he agreed that he would be EXTREMELY concerned regarding long term bleeding from an umbilical stump and as far as he is concerned this is abnormal.

I dont consider bleeding umbilical stumps for up to six weeks as "fairly ordinary"
